Let's help you understand pain
Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience. It’s a complex sensation that varies from person to person. It can be linked to or be actual or potential tissue damage. Pain is a normal response to help protect you from potential danger or threat. It prompts you to take action to stop the damage from happening. If you never felt pain, you might seriously hurt yourself without realising it.
Pain can be acute or persistent. Acute pain is short-term and normally linked to damage or potential damage to the body. It can last for up to three months. Persistent pain lasts for longer than three months. Unlike acute pain, it isn’t normally linked to damage, it has more to do with potential changes in the nervous system.
