From therapy & sex tips to performance feedback, these sexual wellness apps could give your sex life a boost

Technology can be good for our health. From apps that link to wearable tech and track our vital statistics to ones that log macros and others that, perhaps ironically, tell us to reel in our tech use – there’s an app for almost every health concern. But one area that is often neglected digitally? Our sexual wellness.

According to the NHS, sex and intimate relationships are important for health and wellbeing and sex has been linked to good physical and emotional health – but finding trusted sources of information on how to enjoy ourselves in the bedroom isn’t always easy. This is where sexual wellness apps come in.

Outside of sexual wellness, if you have concerns, a sexual problem or want to get yourself checked for STIs, there are free sexual health services that you can access via the NHS or your GP.

Depending on where you live, services and advice may be available from: sexual health clinics (also called family planning, GUM or sexual and reproductive health clinics), some pharmacies and young people’s services. Not all providers offer the full range of sexual health services, so it’s best to check in advance what’s on offer. If you’re not sure which service is right for you, call NHS 111 and they will be able to advise you. To find out more, check out the NHS’ Guide to sexual health services.
