What does it do?
Many of our diets are low in fibre, despite it being essential for healthy digestion. In fact, 90% of adults in the UK aren’t hitting the UK Government’s recommended intake of 30g of fibre a day.

“It’s important to eat plenty of different plant-rich foods (wholegrains, fruit, vegetables, beans, pulses, nuts and seeds) for the wide benefits they can provide. A fibre supplement such as psyllium husk can also support your daily fibre intake.” Vicky Pennington, Boots Nutritionist.

Boots Good Gut Psyllium Husk powder is our easy way to add more fibre to your daily diet & support your digestive system.

  • A single teaspoon serving is packed with 3g of fibre
  • 100% natural
  • Vegan
  • No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives
  • Dairy Free

What is Psyllium Husk?

Psyllium Husk (also known as Ispaghula Husk) comes from a plant commonly grown in India and is known for being naturally high in fibre. Our fine powder is the result of grinding the plant seeds' outer layer, where the fibre is highly concentrated.

Classed as a soluble fibre, Psyllium Husk forms a soft, gel-like substance. As Psyllium is a non-digestible fibre, when it reaches the large intestine, it also helps feed live friendly bacteria that live there.

Suitable for

Suitable for adults and children aged 18 years and over.

Suitable for those following a Vegetarian, Vegan or Keto (Low Carb) Diet.

How to use

Care should be taken to avoid increasing fibre intake in your diet too quickly, as it can lead to excess gas & bloating.  We suggest you start with just half a teaspoon and then increase the amount according to tolerance.

We recommend 1 level teaspoon a day (approx. 3g of powder), adding it into everyday food & drinks such as a glass of fruit juice, smoothie, or cold water. Alternatively, mix with porridge or soup.  If required, up to 2 teaspoons / 6g can be taken per day. This will provide around 20% of your recommended daily intake of fibre.

Always take Psyllium Husk powder with plenty of liquid.

Don’t be alarmed if your Psyllium Husk does not fully dissolve, as it is known to take on a gel like consistency on contact with liquid.
