FOR BABIES’ SPECIAL NUTRITIONAL NEEDS
Over half of babies in the first six months experience feeding problems. Our expert team at SMA® Nutrition is dedicated to understanding the unique nutritional needs of babies with different feeding issues and applying these learnings to our own products.
Reflux affects some babies in the first year. Reflux often occurs because a baby’s digestive system is immature.

Suitable from birth to 12 months. Food for special medical purposes. This formula should be used under medical supervision.
IT’S COMMON FOR BABIES TO EXPERIENCE TUMMY TROUBLES IN THE FIRST FEW MONTHS
All babies cry, but some cry more than others, this could be a sign of colic.

MORE FROM SMA® NUTRITION
IMPORTANT NOTICE: The best way to feed a baby is to breastfeed, as breast milk provides the ideal balanced diet and protection against illness for your baby and also many non-nutritional benefits for both baby and mother. We recommend that you speak to your healthcare professional when deciding on your choice of feeding your baby. Professional guidance should also be sought on the preparation for and maintenance of breastfeeding. If you do choose to breastfeed, it’s important to eat a healthy, balanced diet. Infant formula is intended to replace breast milk when mothers choose not to breastfeed or if for some reason they are unable to do so. A decision not to breastfeed, or to introduce partial bottle-feeding, will reduce the supply of breast milk. If for any reason you choose not to breastfeed, do remember that such a decision can be difficult to reverse. Using infant formula also has social and financial implications which must be considered. Infant formula should always be prepared, used and stored as instructed on the label, in order to avoid risks to a baby’s health. SMA® Wysoy® milk-free formula is intended to meet the nutritional needs of babies and children who are intolerant to cows’ milk protein, lactose or sucrose. Soya infant formulae are not recommended for preterm babies, those with kidney problems, or those with suspected or confirmed soya allergy, where medical guidance should always be sought. SMA LF® is a lactose-free milk-based formula for babies and young children who are intolerant to lactose or sucrose, or who are experiencing symptoms such as diarrhoea, tummy ache or wind caused by temporary lactose intolerance. It is suitable as the sole source of nutrition up to six months of age, and in conjunction with solid food up to 18 months of age.
The following products must be used under medical supervision. SMA® Comfort is a special formula intended for the dietary management of bottle-fed babies with colic and constipation. It is suitable as the sole source of nutrition up to 6 months of age, and in conjunction with solid food up to 12 months of age. SMA® Anti-Reflux is a special formula intended for the dietary management of bottle-fed babies when significant reflux (regurgitation) is a problem. It is suitable as the sole source of nutrition up to six months of age, and in conjunction with solid food up to 12 months of age. If the baby’s reflux does not improve within two weeks of starting SMA® Anti-Reflux, or if the baby fails to thrive, the family doctor should be consulted.
