Day 2 and Day 2 & 8 (PCR) COVID-19 Post-Travel At-Home Testing Service

It is a legal requirement that Boots, as a provider of the service, share all COVID-19 test results (positive, negative, inconclusive and failed) with Public Health England and the NHS Test and Trace Programme.

Important Update


This service is available in the UK only; any orders placed outside of the UK will be cancelled.


For full details please read the government guidelines available Following the government changes announced on Saturday 27th November; all arrivals from non-red list countries who were previously able to take a Day 2 Lateral Flow test, are now required to take a PCR test on or before Day 2 of arrival, and self-isolate until confirmation of a negative result is received.


As a result, to ensure compliance with the new government regulations, as of 11pm GMT on Thursday 2nd December 2021, you will not be able to activate or complete verification process for any Day 2 Lateral Flow test on the ReCoVa-19 portal.


Please note, that rules for unvaccinated arrivals remain unchanged. Unvaccinated arrivals will still be required to take a pre-departure test before travel, and a Day 2 and Day 8 PCR test on arrival. For full details, please read the government guidance available here

STEP 1
Purchase your test kit online through the ReCoVa-19 portal


Register your details and purchase your test(s). You will then receive your booking reference number (which you need to record on your Passenger Locator Form) & you will receive your test kit(s) within 2 days of dispatch.

STEP 2

Activate your test kit and complete the test as per the instruction leaflet(s) included.


Completed tests will need to be posted using a Royal Mail priority postbox.

STEP 3

Get your result


Results are available typically within 24 to 48 hours of the receipt of the sample by the lab.

General Information


This service is suitable for adults and children 5 years of age and over and will be arriving in the UK following international travel.


Your test kit(s) will be dispatched the day after your order is placed and should arrive at your chosen delivery address within 2 working days of dispatch. Please note, Sundays and Bank Holidays are not working days for Royal Mail.


Travel Information


What you must do when you arrive in the UK from abroad depends on your age, vaccination status and where you have been in the 10 days before you arrive in the UK. Please check the relevant guidance for the country you are returning from to see which applies to your country of travel. 


It is important that you refer to the latest information when determining which testing option you require as a country or territory may be moved on or off the red list without warning. Read more here.

Important Information


Activate your kit before taking the test
Please make sure you visit the ReCoVa-19 portal and activate your kit. Failure to do so will mean that you are unable to access your test result.

Please note that Boots do not currently offer testing services for those travelling to England from red list countries or territories. See the government website for more information.
