In-store COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Testing Service
For in-store tests, please don't book an appointment or come into store if you have symptoms of COVID-19. Instead, stay at home and follow the latest government guidance.
We’re doing all we can in store to help keep our customers and colleagues safe. Find out more about safer appointments at Boots.
It’s very important that you arrive in store at the correct time for your appointment. If you’re late, we can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to re-schedule your appointment. You should not eat, drink, smoke or vape at least 30 minutes before having a test, to reduce the risk of spoiling the test.
How it works
Order your test online through the ReCoVa-19 portal and book your appointment on boots.com
Register your details and upload your ID on the ReCoVa-19 portal. You will then be provided with a link which will allow you to book your appointment on boots.com.
Visit your chosen Boots store for your swab test**
A specially-trained member of our team will swab your nose. The appointment, including taking the nose swab, should take less than 10 minutes. You are then able to leave the store.
Get your result typically within 1 hour
Once your result is available, you'll get an email to let you know it's ready. You can then view your result by logging into the ReCoVa-19 portal.
What is the In-Store COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Testing Service?
Our In-Store COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Testing Service is a convenient way to get a swab test to check for a current COVID-19 infection using an antigen test. This isn't a PCR test and it doesn't have to be processed in a laboratory. Using a device for analysis of the sample in store allows our specially-trained colleagues to process results, which is done typically within the hour.***
Features of the service:
- Certification for negative results. Results on the same day.***
- The appointment including the nose swab test should take less than 10 minutes. You are then able to leave the store.
- Suitable for adults and children 5 years of age and over.
- This service is not suitable for those with COVID-19 symptoms, or who think they may have COVID-19. Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms can get a free NHS COVID-19 test.
Is this test suitable for travelling abroad?
This type of test is an antigen test. You must check whether the country or countries you are visiting and the airline/travel company you are flying with, specifically lists antigen tests among the types of tests they accept. If the country of destination or airline/travel company require a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) laboratory test results, then this service will not be suitable. If a PCR test is required, you may wish to book an appointment for our In-Store COVID-19 Testing Service instead.
The testing and entry requirements for countries are regularly changing so it's important to be aware of the specific requirements for the country you are travelling to before booking a test. This information is available on the government website.
