How it works

One pair of glasses for everyday use and safer driving, ZEISS DriveSafe Individual Lenses are specifically optimised for driving. These lenses help you enjoy better vision in all weather and light conditions, protect your eyes from perceived glare and make it easier for you to shift your viewing focus from sat nav and rear-view mirror to windscreen – quickly and often.

They’re suitable for the majority of glasses wearers and are intended for everyday use as well as behind the wheel.

Market research conducted by ZEISS Vision Care highlighted the three most common visual challenges drivers experience:

1. Poor visibility in low-light or bad weather conditions

2. Glare from oncoming cars and streetlights at night

3. Difficulty refocusing when the eyes switch between the road, dashboard and mirrors

Watch the videos below to see how ZEISS DriveSafe Individual Lenses were developed, considering these challenges, to be an everyday lens optimised to make driving more comfortable:

Luminance Design® Technology

ZEISS DriveSafe Individual features an optimised lens design that takes into account the size of pupils in low-light, providing better vision when in more difficult conditions.

1. Bright = small pupil with a large depth of focus

2. Dark = large pupils with a limited depth of focus

3. Low-light = various pupil sizes resulting in changing depth of focus

DuraVision® DriveSafe UV coating

Especially when driving at night, the high luminance from streetlights or car headlights with Xenon or LED technology affects the vision. Glare can be a risk as it reduces the visibility of objects and sensitivity of the eye to contrast. DuraVision® DriveSafe UV Coating partially reflects these wavelengths, which reduces perceived glare.

ZEISS DriveSafe Individual Lens design

Dynamic vision is essential when driving. To make it easier for varifocal lens wearers to quickly refocus between the road, dashboard and mirrors, ZEISS developed the new DriveSafe Individual Progressive Lenses with optimised distance and intermediate viewing zones, reducing the need for horizontal head movement.

Up to 43% larger** mid-distance zone for easier focus when switching between dashboard and mirrors. And up to 14% larger** far-distance visual zone for a wider view of the road.

*Based on a consumer survey conducted with 105 existing ZEISS DriveSafe Individual lens wearers, 82% agreed they felt more confident driving in all weather conditions.
