From spa-inspired skincare to blissful aromatherapy designed to de-stress both body & mind
Feeling good. That’s all we really want from our day-to-day lives, isn’t it? Especially at this time of year. Everyone has their go-to methods for boosting their mood, whether it’s a hearty meal or an evening streaming their favourite TV programmes – but what about our beauty rituals?
Insights from the 2021 Life After Lockdown: the skincare trends report from the L'Oréal Active Cosmetics Division revealed just how much our bathrooms provided us with a form of much-needed solace in stressful times. According to its findings, “online conversations around self-care and healthy skin have risen by 60 percent since pre-lockdown”, and we’re increasingly on the hunt for products that work beyond the surface. “Sensoriality is paramount: we want indulgent, soft textures, mind-massaging scents and soothing application techniques,” the report further stated (er yes, please!). With Covid-19 still at the forefront of many people’s minds, skincare offers an essential form of stress relief for a lot of us and provides a pocket of calm amidst the chaos.
So, what are these feel-good beauty products that we speak so fondly of? From playful options, for those of us that wear make-up, to cleansers and serums that are a joy to apply, here are our favourites...
THE BEST FEEL-GOOD BEAUTY PRODUCTS
The pandemic gave many people the opportunity to get really into skincare, but it’s not only wonderful active ingredients that we now look out for. We want things to smell great and be a joy to use too! After all, certain application techniques (such as facial massage) are all the better for our skin and can promote relaxation.

For a calming bathing experience
Try: Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax Bath & Shower Oil (£49)
• Size: 55ml

For a sumptuous shower finale
Try: Sanctuary Spa White Lily & Damask Rose Wet Skin Moisture Miracle (£8)
• Size: 200ml
This isn’t just a body moisturiser that smells delightfully of white lily and damask rose, it’s a body moisturiser that leaves your skin more hydrated than others that we've tried to give your shower routine a fabulous finale. The fact that you put it on wet skin is a timesaver too!
For super soft hands
Try: Farmologie Hand Cream Pink Grapefruit (£4.99)
• Size: 75ml
Excellent hand hygiene can often mean dry hands, so it’s good to always have a hand cream in your bag. And if it’s a hand cream enriched with shea butter and colloidal oatmeal that has an uplifting pink grapefruit scent? Even better.
For supple skin that smells glorious
Try: Clarins Tonic Treatment Oil (£40)
• Size: 100ml
This body oil contains a combination of plant extracts such as rosemary, geranium and mint, which not only invigorate, but help to prevent the appearance of stretch marks and leave your skin feeling smooth to the touch.
