HANDY WEANING TIPS
BUILD A HAPPY, HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD
Weaning is a really exciting time for little ones where they take their first steps to build a happy healthy relationship with food. We’ve packed this page full of handy weaning advice along with some little videos to help you along the way.
Weaning is all about trying lots of new tastes and helping little ones learn to love them. A little one’s relationship with food involves all their senses, from the vibrant orange of carrots to the furry feel of kiwi skin. By making weaning an exciting sensory journey, there’s more chance they’ll be willing to try new foods when they get older.
Babies won’t always love a new taste the first time they try it, but that’s just fine. It can take up to 10 tries before a little one learns to love a new food. So while it’s important to keep trying with a new taste, stay relaxed and make it a fun experience with big smiles + foodie games.
At Ella’s Kitchen we make weaning easier with yummy healthy food in fun handy packaging. We’ll be here along the way to help your little one grow up to be a good little eater.
WHERE DOES IT START?
Here at Ella’s Kitchen we think it’s best to start weaning with veggies. Little ones have a naturally sweet tooth and introducing veggies early on helps little ones learn to love savoury tastes so they grow up to be good little eaters.
At this stage, don’t worry about how much is eaten, even if it’s just a spoonful. This stage of weaning is all about offering your little one lots of new + different tastes. Slowly build up the amounts offered but no pressure - if your little one isn’t interested, just try again later.
It’s also best to introduce new tastes one by one, so your little one can learn the colours, smells and tastes of each new food they try. To make this easy for mums + dads we made a range of single vegetable or fruit pouches to help your little one experience their first tastes.
