Share your decision with loved ones
Once you've registered to become an organ donor there's only one more thing you need to do - talk to your loved ones. Did you know that almost 90% of families agree to organ donation if they know their relative's decision, but this falls to less than 50% if they haven't had the conversation? It's vital you tell your family about your organ donation decision, as if the time comes, that knowledge will make it so much easier for them to give their consent and support what you want.

The register is a confidential list of people which holds the wishes of more than 22 million people; they have all decided they want to leave a legacy of life for others. Adding your name to the register ensures your decision is recorded, but it's also really important that you tell your family your decision.
Every day across the UK, around three people who could have benefited from a transplant die because there aren't enough organ donors. And currently around 6,500 people are on the waiting list for a transplant.
Yet, of approximately half a million people who die each year across the UK, only around 1% (5,000) die in circumstances where their organs could be donated.
With such small numbers of people dying in the right circumstances to become an organ donor and so many adults and children in need of a transplant, it is vital that no opportunity for someone to become a donor is missed.
How to sign up with Boots Advantage Card
If you don't have a Boots Advantage Card
Simply sign up online to Boots Advantage Card to register as an organ donor – it's as simple as ticking a box. You can also apply using the in-store form or by calling the Boots Advantage Card team on 0845 124 4545*
When you receive your Boots Advantage Card, the Organ Donor symbol will be printed on the back of the card.

Meet Kim and her daughter Madison
Married mum, Kim Fairman, knows first-hand what it is like to be given the chance of a new beginning. Kim was first diagnosed with liver disease when she was 18. In 2010 her younger brother sadly died from a rare genetic liver disease called MDR3 deficiency whist waiting for a transplant. Kim was then also diagnosed with having the same disease. She was told that she needed to have a transplant and was added to the transplant waiting list in July 2012. Kim's condition began to deteriorate and she feared she would not survive to see Christmas.
Kim received her liver transplant in January 2013 and it transformed her life. Before her transplant she didn't have the energy to make cakes with her daughter. Now she can go swimming with her, teach her to play tennis, and more. Kim, who works in a pay roll department and studies accountancy in the evenings, now looks forward to spending the rest of her life with her family and will always be grateful to her donor and her donor's family.
Kim said: "My daughter wrote a piece of work at school that said 'the day mummy had her transplant was a life changing moment'. I was scared and really happy at the same time. If it wasn't for my amazing donor and his courageous family I wouldn't have been there to simply sit and read a book to my daughter. We have received the most amazing gift anyone could ever give. Whist they were suffering the loss of someone they loved so dearly they somehow found the strength to donate his organs and allow a stranger a second chance at life."
