There are a variety of different Nytol aids to suit your needs, all designed to promote a good night’s sleep: 

Nytol Original and Nytol One-A-Night contain the active ingredient Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride, an antihistamine that causes sleepiness or drowsiness. Temporary difficulties in getting a good night’s sleep can be caused by various problems such as stress, jet lag or personal problems such as bereavement. In sleep problems of this type, Nytol One-A-Night and Nytol Original have been shown to help sufferers to fall asleep, have a longer and deeper sleep, and to wake up feeling rested in the morning. 

Nytol also has a range of traditional herbal remedies in the form of Nytol Herbal Tablets and Nytol Herbal Simply Sleep One-A-Night. These products are traditional herbal medicinal products used for the temporary relief of sleep disturbances. 

Nytol Herbal Tablets are a traditional herbal sleeping aid containing a blend of herbal ingredients including Hops, Valerian and Passion Flower. 

Nytol Herbal Simply Sleep One-A-Night contain valerian root extract, a natural active ingredient which has been used traditionally to relieve temporary sleep disturbances. 

Nytol Herbal Simply Sleep & Calm Elixir is a traditional herbal medicinal product used for the temporary relief of symptoms of mild anxiety and to aid sleep, based on traditional use only. 

Whilst all medicines can have side effects, they’re licensed on the basis of their quality, safety and efficacy. Nytol should be used in line with the instructions on the pack. Nytol traditional herbal medicinal products are licensed for use based on their quality, safety and long-term traditional use. 

It is important to use the product in line with the instructions on the pack to limit the possibility of experiencing a morning after effect. After a full night’s sleep (eight hours) you should wake feeling refreshed. However, some people may experience grogginess. 

Nytol traditional herbal medicinal products are unlikely to lead to dependency when used in accordance with the instructions on the pack. If symptoms worsen or persist after four weeks, please consult your doctor. Nytol Original and Nytol One-A-Night are used to treat occasional sleeplessness and dependency is unlikely to occur when used in accordance with instructions on the pack. If your symptoms persist for more than two weeks please speak to your pharmacist or GP. 

Nytol Original and Nytol One-A-Night should be taken at least 20 minutes before bedtime. Nytol Herbal tablets should be taken approximately one hour before bedtime. 

Nytol Herbal Simply Sleep One-A-Night tablets should be taken 30-60 minutes before bedtime. 

If using to aid sleep, Nytol Herbal Simply Sleep & Calm Elixir should be taken 30 minutes before bedtime, with an earlier dose during the evening if necessary. 

Nytol Herbal products should be taken for two to four weeks continuously. 

If you wake up during the night after Nytol, do not take extra tablets. If you have gone to bed and wake up during the night provided you haven’t already taken any Nytol and that you have seven to eight hours before you need to get up, take in line with instructions on the pack. It is important to use the product in line with the instructions on the pack to limit the possibility of experiencing a morning after effect such as grogginess. All Nytol products are available without prescription. Nytol traditional herbal medicinal products are available from the shop shelf or over the counter. 

Nytol Original and Nytol One-A-Night do not require a prescription, just ask your pharmacist. 

We wouldn’t recommend taking more than one product in the Nytol range at the same time – use the products in line with the instructions provided in the pack. If you are unsure please speak to a member of the pharmacy team. 

For Nytol Original and Nytol One-A-Night do not take for more than two weeks without consulting a doctor. For Nytol traditional herbal medicinal products, if your symptoms persist or worsen after four weeks please consult a doctor.
