How to use

What is the Air Ventilation System® (AVS)?
The Air Ventilation System® reduces the intake of air, so, in turn, reduces potential cause of wind.

How often should I replace the NaturalWave® Teat?
We suggest inspecting the teat for wear/tear daily and recommend changing the teat every 7 weeks. If you notice the silicone is torn or compromised in any way, discard it. We also recommend not leaving the teat in direct sunlight, heat, or leaving in disinfectant for longer than instructions recommended as this may weaken the teat.

Can I sanitize Lansinoh bottles and NaturalWave® Teats in boiling water?
The Lansinoh bottles and NaturalWave® Teat can be sanitized by boiling in water for five minutes. Please be sure that no parts of the bottle or attachments touch the bottom or the sides of the pan.

When should I change the flow for my child’s NaturalWave® Teat?
While using our Lansinoh NaturalWave® Teats, there is no exact age when you should switch the flow of teat for your child, though we recommend S from 1 month, M from 3 months and L from 6 months as a guide. The best way to tell is by being mindful of their feeding habits. For example, if you notice that your child is sucking for a long time but still unable to get milk out as quickly as they used to, then that is an indication that they may need a faster flow teat. However, if you do notice that milk is spilling onto the baby’s neck while feeding then that is an indication that they will need a slower flow teat.

Hazards and Cautions

Feeding Bottle 160 ml / 240 ml / Wide-necked bottle / NaturalWave® teat / Hygienic protective cap / Screw collar / Stacking lid

Instructions for use:

Fill with the required amount of liquid and tighten the screw cap. Never microwave breastmilk either to defrost or warm it. Microwaving may cause the milk to heat unevenly, creating ‘hot spots’. Unevenly heated food may burn baby’s mouth. Do not microwave human milk as microwaving alters the composition of the milk.

Cleaning:

Before initial use: Place the product in boiling water for 5 minutes, allow to cool, and thoroughly rinse all bottle components. This is to ensure hygiene. Subsequently, the bottle can also be washed in the upper rack of a dishwasher and can be sanitized (open) both in the microwave and using a special sanitizing machine. Always wash all components of the product immediately after each use. Wash in warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Clean before each use.

Assembly:

Once thoroughly dry, insert feeding teat through the top of the screw collar. Attach the screw collar securely onto the bottle neck. Make sure the bottle is closed with the cap in place, taking care to position the teat in the centre of the cap to activate the “spill-proof” function of the product, when carrying a full bottle.

Precautions:

When not in use, store in a dry and covered place. Do not clean, store or allow to come into contact with solvents or harsh chemicals. Damage could result. Do not leave the product in direct sunlight or heat, or leave in disinfectant (“sanitizing solution”) for longer than recommended. Do not warm the liquid by placing the bottle directly onto gas or electric rings, warming plates, in electric ovens etc.

ATTENTION:

• Some juices and sterile solutions may make the silicone become opaque.
• This does not modify any of its properties.
• Do not microwave human milk as microwaving alters the composition of the milk.
• Heating in a microwave oven may produce localized high temperatures.
• Always stir heated food to ensure even heat distribution and test the temperature before serving.

WARNING:

• Always use this product with adult supervision.
• Never use feeding teats as a soother.
• Continuous and prolonged sucking of fluids will cause tooth decay.
• Always check food temperature before feeding.
• Keep components not in use out of the reach of children.
• Throw away at the first signs of damage or weakness.
• Never attach to cords, ribbons, laces or loose parts of clothing. The child can be strangled.
• Tooth decay in young children can occur even when non-sweetened fluids are used.
• This can occur if the baby is allowed to use the bottle for long periods throughout the day and particularly during the night, when saliva flow is reduced or if it is used as a soother.
• Inspect all components before each use.
• Throw away at the first sign of damage or weakness.
• Replace the teat every 7 weeks, for safety and hygiene reasons.
• Pull the feeding teat in all directions to check the product.
• Packaging materials are not part of the product.
• Keep all unused components out of the reach of children.
• For your child’s safety, please remove and discard all packaging materials prior to use but read and retain the instructions for future reference.
• Leave open in the microwave.
• Do not leave the baby alone with drinking equipment due to the risk of choking, the baby falling over or if the product has disassembled.
Storing and thawing your breastmilk:
• Depending on the country, breastmilk storage guidelines may vary. Please refer to your local country expressed milk storage guidelines for healthy term babies (check with your healthcare professional, if needed).
• Prior to storing and handling breastmilk, wash hands well with soap and water before use.
• DO NOT store your breastmilk in the fridge/freezer door. The door tends to be the warmest part of the fridge/freezer.
• Date all milk and use the oldest milk first.
• DO NOT thaw breastmilk in very hot or boiling water (no more than 37°C/98°F).
• Chill freshly expressed milk before adding to already older, stored breastmilk.
• Ideally, thaw frozen milk in the refrigerator overnight, or place the container under cool running water, gradually warming the water (no more than 37°C/98°F), until the milk is thawed. Once the milk is liquid, but still chilled, dry the bottle and refrigerate (at least 4°C) until use.
• Prior to use, gently swirl the bottle of thawed breastmilk before feeding to baby to mix the layers that have separated. It is normal for expressed milk to look thin, bluish, yellowish or even brownish in colour and for it to separate into a milk layer and a cream layer when stored. Some mothers notice their milk smells slightly soapy once defrosted, due to high levels of lipase, the enzyme that breaks down fat. The milk is still safe to use but some babies refuse to drink it. Heating milk to a scald (bubbles around the edges, not boiling) then quickly cooling it before freezing can deactivate the lipase. If milk smells sour do not use.
• DO NOT refreeze breastmilk once it is thawed.
