BURT’S BEES

Burt Shavitz and Roxanne Quimby created Burt’s Bees in the wild of Maine, USA in the early 1980s after leaving their hectic city lives to be at one with nature. Together, they got friendly with some bees and started to jar up their beeswax. Before you knew it, their beeswax was sold worldwide – in lip balms, hand creams and more. Burt & Roxanne’s mission was clear: to make accessible skin care products, using only the best, natural ingredients that are good for your skin.

Today, that commitment hasn’t changed as we strive for 100% natural origin ingredients with each product we craft, and all our products are over 95% natural origin. We’re obsessed about the good stuff, how we source it and our people. Our core ingredient, soft beeswax, is 100% natural origin and responsibly sourced from our local beekeeper friends in Tanzania & Vietnam. Plus, our creamy shea butter comes from West Africa, where we support women in shea communities through our Global Shea Alliance program.

As Roxanne said, “we take from nature, so we must respect and preserve it”. We’re still guided by this belief to always give back and do better to protect the world and future generations. We’ve designed our packaging to be recyclable, powered our facilities with renewable electricity, and promised to keep 1.5 million pounds of plastic out of our oceans—and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Our love for all beings runs deep. So we don’t test on animals, and we are Leaping Bunny Certified.
