Boots Pharmaceuticals Krill Oil

Find out more about Boots Pharmaceuticals Krill Oil, a supplement to help maintain normal heart function with added omega-3 from fish oil.

What is Boots Krill Oil?

Boots Pharmaceuticals Krill Oil is a supplement which contains the omega-3 fatty acids DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid).

DHA and EPA contribute to the normal function of the heart and DHA also contributes to normal brain function and vision.

Omega-3 fatty acids play a key role at all stages of life and a structural role throughout the body.

Krill oil contains 40 per cent more phospholipids than omega fish oils. The phospholipids in this krill oil are a superior source of omega 3 and studies show these are much easier for the body to absorb.

This advanced supplement is specially formulated to combine the benefits of both fish and krill oils.

What are the benefits of Krill Oil?

Eating oily fish such as mackerel, sardines and salmon provides a direct source of DHA and EPA.

The UK Department of Health recommends eating two portions (140g each) of fish a week, at least one of which is oily. In 2012, the National Diet and Nutrition Survey reported that two thirds of people in the UK do not eat this amount.

Where it is not possible to achieve this recommendation, supplements may help. However, food supplements are intended to supplement the diet and should not be regarded as a substitute for a varied diet or healthy lifestyle.

Where does Krill Oil come from?

Krill oil gets its name from the small crustaceans from which it is harvested. Boots Pharmaceuticals Krill Oil is obtained using a new innovative technology called eco-harvesting.* This method causes minimal environmental damage and helps the krill oil retain all its essential nutrients.

How to use

Boots Pharmaceuticals Krill Oil is suitable for children and adults aged 12 years and above. Sold as red capsules, each contains 250mg of DHA and EPA combined, to be taken orally. To achieve a beneficial effect, 250mg of DHA is needed per day. The recommended daily intake is one to three capsules.
