10% Azelaic Acid: Derived from barley, azelaic acid (aka dicarboxylic acid) is used for its powerful skin-soothing and brightening benefits. Research has demonstrated that azelaic acid, at a 10% concentration, can help improve multiple types of discolorations—both those that occur due to sun damage as well as post breakout red or brown marks—and has mild exfoliation properties.
1% Salicylic Acid: This beta hydroxy acid exfoliates the surface of skin, and because it is oil soluble, it can penetrate to exfoliate the pores, too. This unique combination of abilities allows salicylic acid to improve concerns like texture and tone as well as help unclog pores. Because of its exfoliation benefits, it also enhances the penetration and absorption of other ingredients.
Triple-Antioxidant Brightening Complex: Phloretin, glutathione, and diglucosyl gallic acid work together to normalize areas of excess melanin production, reduce hyperpigmentation (those pink or red marks left over after a breakout), and enhance the penetration of actives like azelaic acid.
Niacinamide: Aka vitamin B3, niacinamide has a wide range of benefits, most notably its ability to improve signs of aging (fine lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness) as well as uneven tone and texture. Research has demonstrated that niacinamide, even in low concentrations, can help strengthen a compromised skin barrier, boost skin’s synthesis of ceramides and cholesterol—both essential substances in barrier health and elasticity—and improve skin’s defences against water loss.
Tocotrienols: Used for their potent antioxidant properties, skin-soothing abilities, and moisture content, tocotrienols are a powerful, concentrated form of vitamin E.
Virgin Marula Oil: This super-absorbable oil, high in critical antioxidants and omegas 6 and 9, helps moisturize, nourish, and rejuvenate skin for a youthful glow.
Chia Seed Oil: Soothing, moisturizing plant oil that is naturally rich in omega fatty acids and antioxidant carotenoids and phenolic compounds.
Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Seed Oil: Contains high amounts of omega fatty acids, antioxidant carotenoids (responsible for the orange pigment in fruits and vegetables), and beta-carotene.
Fermented Green Tea Seed Oil: Derived from the fermentation of green tea seed oil, this ingredient is used for its moisturizing, antioxidant, and soothing properties.
Ferulic Acid: Has protective antioxidant benefits, particularly against UV-generated free radicals, and helps improve the stability of ingredients like vitamin C.
Thioctic Acid: A potent skin-calming ingredient that boosts the effectiveness and stability of vitamin C while providing additional antioxidant defence against UV-generated free radical damage.
Ergothioneine: Derived from mushrooms, it is used for its powerful skin-
soothing benefits. 5-Ceramide Blend: Ceramides AP, NP, EOP, NS, and EOS are derived from plant sources and are identical to the wax-like moisturising ceramides that occur naturally in skin. Ceramides help fill in the spaces between skin cells, giving them elasticity, and play a critical role in strengthening the skin barrier by helping to maintain the moisture balance of skin while protecting against water loss.
