Dove Self-Esteem Project

Since 2004, Dove has been building self-esteem in young people – and by 2030, we’ll have helped 1/4 billion through our educational programmes

The Dove Self-Esteem Project was created from a vision where beauty is a source of confidence, not anxiety. For more than 15 years, we’ve been helping parents, mentors, teachers and youth leaders deliver self-esteem education around the world. So far, we’ve reached over 60 million young people in 150 countries through our educational programmes – join us to help reach even more.

When it comes to body image and body confidence, our mission is to ensure that young people grow up enjoying a positive relationship with the way they look. That’s why we’re helping them raise their self-esteem and realise their full potential.

Since 2013, we’ve joined forces with leading authorities and partners to underpin our work in psychology, health and teen body image. From the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) to the Centre for Appearance Research (CAR) and the Women’s Dermatologic Society (WDS) – we’re working together to empower young people and build body confidence around the world.

Our resources include tools that are free to download and proven to build positive body confidence.

Teacher resources

We believe every young person should grow up feeling confident about their looks. That’s why we’ve developed Confident Me, a set of evidence-based resources for teachers and schools aimed at 11-14 year olds.

Aligned to promote adolescent body confidence, the free downloadable tools are designed to allow teachers and schools to run body-confidence workshops. The workshops allow teachers and pupils to explore the impact that image ideals portrayed through the media have on young people’s self-esteem.

Parent & mentor resources

The resources on our site have been specifically designed to encourage young people to develop and maintain a healthy bodyimage during the transition to adulthood.

In a world that constantly tells young people how they should look and has a narrow definition of ‘beautiful’, how can we help them value their unique beauty and stay true to themselves?

Working with experts from the fields of psychology, health and media, the Dove Self-Esteem Project has developed a range of resources to help guide parents and teenagers.

Reverse Selfie: Social Media & Self-Esteem

This is a representation of how far retouching apps can distort beauty. #NoDigitalDistortion is our movement to help build confidence and positive body image on social media. Let’s reverse the negative effects of social media by standing up to unrealistic beauty standards.

Together we can boost confidence and make social media a more body-positive place for young people. Research Dove Self Esteem Project to help educate a young person in your life.
