How can Boots help?

A diabetes diagnosis doesn’t need to be difficult to understand and manage. We have many services available to help you get on with life. Whether it’s supporting you with your condition or helping you care for someone you love, we’ve got you covered. As always if you ever have any concerns or questions, our pharmacists are happy to help and support you.

NHS New Medicine Service

If you've recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes you may have many questions about the medicines you’ve been prescribed. The New Medicine Service gives you the chance to find out more about your new medicines and identify any problems you may be having with them at the start. Our pharmacists are on hand to answer any questions, to help you find the easiest and most effective way of taking your new medicine.

Electronic Prescriptions

The NHS Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) allows most GPs in England* to send prescriptions instantly to a pharmacy of your choice. The first step is to nominate a pharmacy that’s convenient for you. This lets the NHS know where you’d like your electronic prescription to be sent to. Many of our pharmacies offer late-night opening hours and we have late night pharmacies** too. Collect your prescription at a time and place that works best for you***.

Ordering your repeat prescriptions

Unlike one-off prescriptions, you don’t need to go and see your GP every time you need a top up of your diabetes medication. Boots Online Prescriptions allows you to order your medicine online or via the Boots app and have it delivered to your home or in store. Whatever works for you. With one less thing to remember, you can get on with everyday life. Order for yourself, or for friends and family that you’re caring for.

You can order using a boots.com account or you can sign up to Boots Online Prescriptions with NHS Login if you are registered with a GP in England.

Using NHS Login has several benefits:

Connect to your GP record to select the prescription item(s) you need from a list of authorised and due items, without worrying about spelling, quantity or strength. Prescription requests are directly sent to your GP's system, which means that they're often approved quicker. Any changes your GP makes to your repeat medication will be updated in your account so your medicines are always up to date.

Text Message Service

Our free Text Message Service is a great way to manage your prescriptions. No more waiting around for your medicine to be ready. Sign up to the service and we'll send you text messages when your prescription is ready to collect and also when it’s time to reorder. We send texts in real-time so you can collect your prescription straight away after you’ve received your text.
