The Hygiene Bank

"We're driven by the belief that everyone deserves to feel clean. Access to hygiene basics is not a luxury or a privilege, it's a basic human right"

Boots & the hygiene bank

There are over 3.1 million* people living in hygiene poverty in the UK. Hygiene poverty is being unable to afford the everyday essentials that most of us take for granted such as shampoo, deodorant, and laundry detergent. It has a negative impact on people's school, work and social lives. Boots is The Hygiene Bank's founding partner and official retail partner, with donation points in over 600 stores. Since joining forces in 2020, we have been working together to raise awareness of hygiene poverty and help close the hygiene poverty gap.

You donate = we donate

For every kilogram of product donated in a Boots store, we donate one full-sized product to the Hygiene Bank. Since the start of our partnership, we've donated over 1.5 million products to those living in hygiene poverty, with the charity directly supporting more than 2000 organisations and projects across the UK.

What can I donate?

How Boots & the hygiene bank support schools

“Hygiene poverty can have a knock-on effect on children’s confidence, which is one of the foundations to success at school”

We want to help young people understand the importance of hygiene & how they can support people living in hygiene poverty in their own communities. We’ve worked alongside The Hygiene Bank to design educational resources for parents & teachers to help young people.

Download our educational resources for primary and secondary school pupils to help keep the conversation around hygiene poverty going. You can find your nearest in-store donation point here. All donations of new, unused and in-date personal care and household cleaning essentials including deodorant, shower gel, shampoo, make-up, nappies, toilet roll, laundry detergent and surface cleaner are welcome.
