A flourishing floral story
With over 250 years fragrance expertise and a British heritage that goes from the reign of Charles I in the 1600’s, through to that of King George III in the 1770’s, into the swingin’ 60’s and now reigning in the 21st century, Yardley London is probably the oldest fragrance house in the world.
As a pioneer of the English Lavender fragrance, this has been our signature perfume since Yardley London commissioned scientists to scour the globe for the most sought after varieties in the 1930’s, which led to the discovery of the highest quality Lavandula Angustifolia in the fields of southern England. Today, we use over 400 litres of lavender fragrance yearly to make our English Lavender fragrances and a Yardley English Lavender fragrance product is sold every minute on a global basis.
Yardley London dates back to 1770, officially establishing itself as the House Of Yardley in the city of London. Throughout the 19th and 20th centries, Yardley London continued to grow and during the 1940s the brand was producing make-up in its Basildon factory and advising women to put their best face forward every day while helping with the war effort. In 1956 they even launched refillable lipsticks – an innovative and forward thinking concept for the time. In the 1960’s, the British model Twiggy became the brand ambassador.
Yardley London has stood the test of time, winning numerous, significant beauty awards for its high quality fragrances and bath and body products, receiving six Royal Warrants since they were granted* and we are proud to be a keen supporter of charity, supporting Look Good Feel Better, a national cancer support charity, who ensure more people can face cancer with confidence.
Whilst still featuring the ever popular Traditional Floral fragrance range, Yardley London’s Fragrance portfolio is ever evolving with the recent launch of our NEW Contemporary Floral Fragrance Collection providing a broader selection of fragrances.
We continue to be forward thinking and responding to our valuable customer insights, are now providing vegan-friendly and cruelty-free products, whilst continuing to pursue sustainable sourcing for our natural ingredients and ensuring that our packaging uses recyclable and sustainably sourced materials.
*Yardley was appointed Perfumers & Fine Soap Makers to H.R.H. The Prince of Wales by Prince Edward - the first of many Royal Warrants to be awarded to Yardley throughout the twentieth century.
