#NOFILTERNEEDED

Hyaluronic
The skin concern: Dry, dehydrated

The Hyaluronic Fix

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a gentle acid naturally produced by bodies. It keeps our tissue well lubricated and like collagen, it’s also responsible for giving our skin that youthful, plump appearance that depletes as we age.

Hyaluronic acid can hold up 1,000 times its own weight in water. This is why hyaluronic acid is such a popular ingredient as it retains water already in your skin.

Hyaluronic acid main benefit is reducing dryness and dehydration. But it can also reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles thanks to its plumping abilities.

In the skincare world there are three types of moisturisers: emollients, occlusives and humectants. Humectant moisturisers like HA are super. lightweight so work for all skin types and won’t feel heavy or greasy on oily skin types. They are also a great option for teens and anyone just starting out with their skincare routine.

Salicylic
The skin concern: Oily, congested skin

The Salicylic Fix

Salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliator from the beta hydroxy acid family (BHA for short). Whereas physical exfoliators slough away dead skin cells using small particles (e.g. sugar, coffee grinds etc), chemical exfoliators work by dissolving the bonds that hold these cells together.

Salicylic acid is the ideal ingredient for congested skin as unlike AHAs, it’s able to break through the oil on your skin, reducing that congestion caused by dead skin cells inside your pores.

Thanks to its pore-flushing abilities, with regular use you will see a reduction in breakouts, including whiteheads and blackheads.

The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits of salicylic acid also mean any spots you do get won’t be as red and painful and will disappear quicker.

If blackheads are your concern, salicylic acid is a far more effective treatment option than pore strips.

Glycolic
The skin concern: Enlarged pores, blackheads & skin texture

The Glycolic Fix

Glycolic acid is a chemical exfoliator from the Alpha hydroxy acid family (AHA for short). Whereas physical exfoliators slough away dead skin cells using small particles (e.g. sugar, coffee grinds etc), chemical exfoliators work by dissolving the bonds that hold these cells together.

AHAs like glycolic acid are best in terms of exfoliating dead skin cells from the skin’s surface, reduces existing fine lines and wrinkles, fades hyperpigmentation, and clears acne. Not only that, but glycolic acid also helps plump the skin even further by boosting hydration levels.

These benefits mean that adding glycolic acid into your routine will result in you seeing a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles and your skin will also be more hydrated and you can kiss goodbye to uneven texture and tone.

Out of all the chemical exfoliators, glycolic acid is the one most renowned for its glow. A definite must-have ingredient for anyone struggling with dullness in their skin.

Mandelic + Charcoal
The skin concern: Sensitive Skin with pores and blemishes

The Mandelic + Charcoal Fix

Mandelic acid is a chemical exfoliator from the alpha hydroxy acid family (AHA for short). Whereas physical exfoliators slough away dead skin cells using small particles (e.g. sugar, coffee grinds etc), chemical exfoliators work by dissolving the bonds that hold these cells together.

Compared to other AHA, Mandelic acid is gentler on the skin and may help with acne, skin texture, hyperpigmentation, and the effects of ageing. Mandelic acid allow you to reap all the benefits of acids, without irritation. This is because its molecular size is twice as big as glycolic’s, which means it takes longer to penetrate the skin, making it less likely to cause redness or irritation.

Mandelic also delivers some of the same anti-ageing benefits (including boosted collagen production) as glycolic acid.

Combined with charcoal which is one of the best pore-cleansing ingredients; these two ingredients can leave the skin with a more refined-looking glow.

Vitamin C
The skin concern: Dull, uneven skin tone & dark spots

The Vitamin C Fix

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant when, used in skincare, can protect against pollution and environmental damages. There are various forms of vitamin C, the purest (but not the only) being L-ascorbic acid.

As well as correcting damages to skin, daily use of vitamin C will prevent that wear and tear happening in the first place. Applying vitamin C as a serum in the day will delay signs of ageing. Vitamin C boosts and promotes collagen production (a building block of skin that gives a plump, youthful look), as well as correcting hyperpigmentation, lightening dark spots and reducing leftover red marks from spots. Simply put, regular use of vitamin C will make you look younger for longer.

Retinol
The skin concern: Fine lines, wrinkles & dark circles

The Retinol Fix

Retinol (otherwise known as vitamin A) comes under the family of ingredients called retinoids. It’s often referred to as a “cell-communicating ingredient” because it can connect to skin cells and tell them to act like younger, healthy cells.

This is why retinol boosts your production of collagen and elastin (building blocks of skin that give it that plump, youthful look).

If you compare it to your chemical exfoliators which exfoliate skin from the outside (i.e. glycolic acid), retinol is effectively starting that exfoliation period from the inside at a cellular level.

As well as being an elite ingredient in the anti-ageing field, retinol can also be used to treat acne, help refine skin texture and tone. If you’re struggling with hyperpigmentation or sun damage it’s also going to get you results.
