Boots Pharmaceuticals Haemorrhoid Relief Suppositories contain a local anaesthetic, Lidocaine, to relieve the pain and discomfort of haemorrhoids (also known as piles). It also contains Allantoin which helps healing.
Adults and children 12 years and over
You must be at least 16 years old to purchase this product.
How to use
Please read the enclosed leaflet carefully before using this product:
Check the blister is not broken before use. If it is, do not use that suppository.
Wash hands thoroughly before and after inserting the suppository.
Remove the protective film.
Adults & children 12 years and over: If possible empty bowels before use. Gently insert one suppository deep into the rectum morning and night and after each bowel movement.
Use only in the rectum.
Do not swallow the suppository.
Do not use for children under 12 years.
Do not use this medicine for more than 7 days, unless your doctor tells you to.
If symptoms do not go away within 7 days talk to your doctor.
Hazards and Cautions
Before using this product:
If anyone accidently swallows a suppository: talk to a doctor straight away.
Do not use:
- If you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
- If you have a continuous pain or bleeding from the anus, a change in bowel habit, a swollen stomach or have lost weight without trying
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Most people will not have problems, but some may get some.
If you get any of these serious side effects, stop using the suppository. See a doctor:
- Allergic reactions (e.g. skin rash, redness or itchy skin)
Reporting side effects:
If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes any possible side effects not listed on the label. You can also report side effects directly via the Yellow Card Scheme at: www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard. By reporting side effects you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.
Store at or below 25°C
Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children.
Use by the date on the side panel of the carton.
