Fibre is a big deal

Why? To keep our digestive system healthy & happy. Chances are you probably aren’t getting what you need.

Did you know 90% of adults aren’t hitting the UK recommendation of 30g of fibre a day?

What is fibre?

Fibre is a carb that comes from plant foods – there are literally hundreds of different types of fibre. The key to a healthy balanced diet is not only getting enough fibre, but getting it from a good variety of different plants & veggies.

Why is fibre a big deal?

Fibre really is fabulous…

• It helps you feel fuller, for longer

• Keeps the friendly bacteria in your gut happy & well fed

• Some types of fibre can bulk up your stools which influences the speed at which food moves through the gut, known as gut transit time. Fibre adds bulk to stools by absorbing water, which also softens them making them easier to pass.

Remember, it’s best to slowly increase your intake of fibre & always take fibre with plenty of liquids.

How can I top-up?

Wholegrains, fruits, veggies, peas, beans, lentils, nuts and seeds are full of plant goodness. However, we get that it’s not easy to get 30g of fibre from your diet alone – that’s where fibre supplements & powders can play an important role.
