Information & Advice
One of this season's most workable hair trends, the faux fringe is versatile enough to work with the sleek and sultry styles seen at Peter Som's spring/summer show, as well as the mussed-up 'dos seen on the Ann Sofie Back catwalk. The idea? Create a deep parting on one side of the hair and sweep the front section low across the forehead to fake a bit of fringe action.
Tip: Use hair grips crossed over one another to secure your faux fringe in place behind the ear - just make sure they're hidden for maximum impact!
If you're looking for a bit of wave action this season take some hair inspiration from the likes of Anna Sui, Holly Fulton and Blugirl, who kept it casual on the catwalk as sharp, sleek 'dos made way for soft, tumbling waves.
Tip: Use a curling wand to loosely wave sections of the hair and then pin each section up and leave to cool for a few minutes for the perfect tumbling wave.
Forget perfection, this season it's all about the lived-in look when it comes to wearing your hair up. Take a style cue from Louis Vuitton and invest in a spot of gentle backcombing to finish off your look, or make like the models at Zac Posen and tease strands of hair out from your updo.
Tip: This look can work well even on short hair - simply backcomb to add a bit of volume and then use kirby grips to secure hair in place. Try Boots Essentials Blending Hair Grips, which are matte for ultimate subtlety.
