If you take two or more prescription medicines regularly, you might be surprised to learn that it's easy to take them incorrectly - in fact, research has shown that at least 50% of people do so.

Here at Boots, we want to help you to get the most out of your medicines, which is why our Boots Pharmacies in England and Wales provide a free NHS Medicines Check-Up once a year for people who are taking more than one medicine or taking medicine for a long-term condition.

Talk to a Boots pharmacist

A Medicines Check-Up gives you the opportunity to sit down and discuss your medicines confidentially with your Boots pharmacist. You are more likely to benefit from a Medicines Check-Up if:

• you are regularly taking more than one prescription medicine
• you are taking medicines for a long-term illness (e.g. asthma, arthritis, diabetes or epilepsy)

Designed to complement your GP’s advice by discussing how to take your medicines properly, a Medicines Check-Up takes just 10-15 minutes. During this time you can discuss how your medicines work and whether there’s anything you could do to make them work better – sometimes simple things like changing the time of day that you take your medicines can increase their effectiveness. This applies to prescription medicines as well as healthcare products you might buy over the counter, like aspirin or flu remedies.

You’ll need to have been collecting your prescriptions from a Boots Pharmacy for the last three months.
