How to arrange your repeat prescription in
Boots stores

To help make things easier for people on repeat medication, Boots offer a free repeat prescription service that is quick, convenient and simple to arrange.

What is it?

The Boots Free Repeat Prescriptions Service is a convenient way to collect your repeat prescriptions, saving you time and extra trips to your GP.

To arrange it instore, all you need to do is provide us with your completed repeat slip, then fill out a simple form and we will liaise with your GP surgery to order and collect your repeat prescription. You can then pop in to your chosen Boots store and collect your medicines.


What are the benefits?

Aside from being free and simple to arrange, there are many benefits to using the Boots Free Repeat Prescriptions Service instore:

  • It saves you time – there’s no longer a need to go to your GP each time your prescription is due, and you can collect your medicines and order for next month in a single visit
  • You’re in control – if your prescription order changes or you need to order medicines that are not needed regularly, just let us know and we’ll manage your request
  • It’s flexible to suit you – you can collect your medicines from one of 2500 Boots Pharmacies at a time convenient for you
  • We’ll keep you informed – don’t worry about missing reviews with your GP; your doctor will tell us if you need an appointment for a review and then we’ll let you know


Common questions and concerns answered

What if my prescription/medicines change or I need to order a non-regular medicine?
Don’t worry; if your medicines change, simply let us know and we can manage this for you.

What if I’m on holiday or going to be away?
We’ll make this easy for you and can order your medicines in advance, or even arrange for you to collect your medicines from another Boots store that may be more convenient. Again, just let us know and we’ll take care of it.

I’m worried that I might miss my review with my doctor, or that they won’t know what is happening with my medicines.
This is an understandable concern, but one that our Free Repeat Prescription Service can address for you. You still visit your GP for your reviews and your doctor will tell us if you need to see them, so we’ll pass this information on to you when you collect your medicines. What you don’t need to do is to keep going to the surgery every time to order and collect your repeat prescription.

Do I have to collect my medication on the day I request when I join the Free Repeat Prescription Service?
Your medicines will be ready and waiting for collection on the day you have requested. Don’t worry if you can’t collect on that date; we’ll keep them for you. If you need to collect your medicines before that date then you will need to contact our team instore so that they can arrange it for you.


Online Repeat Prescription Service

If you’d like to manage your repeat prescriptions online, as well as receive email and SMS reminders and notifications, we also offer an online Repeat Prescription Service. This service also offers more flexibility over how and where you pick up your medicines or have them delivered to you.
