Boots Acne Online Clinic
Prescription medicines for acne without a trip to the GP
What is acne?
Many teenagers will experience acne to some degree. Acne often starts at puberty, due to hormonal changes, and disappears in the mid-20s but it may continue into adulthood.
Who can use this clinic?
Our online clinics give you access to prescription-only medicines called Differin and Skinoren without you visiting your GP. If you already have a prescription from your GP we can dispense it, either at your local Boots pharmacy, or via our online prescription service.
To use this clinic, you must be aged between 16 and 50 years old.
This clinic is for mild to moderate acne. If you have more severe acne, which forms cysts for instance, or if your acne is causing you distress, please visit your GP.
If you are aged 51 or over and suffering with acne, we recommend you speak to your GP.

What results can I expect?
Prescription medicines for acne are effective but may take up to three months to work.
We sell several treatments online and in store to help with acne, such as acnecide washes. Many of these contain Benzoyl Peroxide to help kill the bacteria which cause acne breakouts. Our pharmacists can speak to you about your options.
This clinic gives you access to two prescription-only medicines for mild to moderate acne. These are Skinoren and Differin.
Skinoren is a cream which attacks bacteria responsible for causing acne. It also reduces growth of the outermost harder layer of skin, which causes pores to clog and form blackheads and whiteheads.
Differin is anti-inflammatory and reduces soreness and irritation. For full information about these medicines, including their possible side effects, please read their Patient Information Leaflets.
