    Our History

    Promensil became available in the UK in 1998. Promensil was developed over 20 years ago and has undergone over 15 years of scientific research, resulting in 18 studies carried out worldwide on over 1,000 women going through the menopause. Results of these studies have been published in scientific journals.

    Red Clover (Trifolium pratense) is a herbal extract, which is high in isoflavones (natural plant oestrogens). Red Clover Isoflavones are widely used by women to help maintain their wellbeing and vitality especially during the time of menopause. You can obtain isoflavones through diet, for example chickpeas and soya milk but you would need to consume a lot to get the recommended daily intake of 40-80mg of isoflavones. Each Promensil tablet provides 40mg or 80mg of isoflavones.

  • WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TYPES OF ISOFLAVONES?

    What is the difference between Red Clover Isoflavones and soya isoflavones?

    Red Clover and soya are both legumes and belong to the same family of plants. The main difference is that red clover contains four active isoflavones whereas soya only has two. Red Clover Isoflavones have better bioavailability, take less time to reach maximum concentration in the body and keep maximum concentration for longer, compared to soya isoflavones.

    About Menopause

    Firstly, every woman will experience menopause. The age this happens varies; however, it's usually between the ages of 45 and 60 and is when the ovaries stop producing eggs. The average age for women to reach the menopause in the UK is 51.

    During early/peri-menopause (the time approaching final menstruation), oestrogen levels in a woman’s body start to decline. For many women, the menopause can be an uncomfortable, roller-coast ride with changes in hormone levels affecting you both physically and emotionally. So if feeling vibrant and self-confident is important at every stage in life, how can women embrace this period and help support themselves through ‘the change’?

  • What can I do to feel great?

    1. Exercise

    Regular exercise is essential for keeping your metabolism and cardiovascular system healthy. Exercise also increases levels of serotonin, responsible for the regulation of mood and sleep, but is also important in memory function and for bone protection.

    2. RELAX

    Too much stress can have a negative effect on health and wellbeing generally and more specifically can exacerbate menopause symptoms such as hot flushes. Relaxation on the other hand can have very positive results. Spending as little as 15-20 minutes practising yoga, body balance or simply lying flat, relaxing your muscles and deep breathing can help.

    3. EAT WELL

    Make sure your diet is varied and rich in beans, pulses, fresh fruit and vegetables. Dairy products will help replenish calcium, essential for keeping your bones healthy. Nutritionists advise avoiding stimulating and sugary foods such as coffee, spicy food and chocolate in order to avoid hot flushes and tiredness, and instead go for high protein foods such as nuts, and foods that are high in nutrients such as zinc, vitamin E and calcium.

    4. GO OUT

    Take advantage of every sunny day. Sunshine encourages your body to produce vitamin D, which helps your body absorb calcium. Vitamin D also ensures normal functioning of the immune system and your muscles.

    5. SUPPLEMENTING YOUR DIET
