Did it's job, not enough product though! I wanted to remove the red colour from my hair but didn't want to damage it too much by bleaching. I watched the video and had high expectations for this product. I was excited to return to my previous light shade. I wasn't bothered about the price I paid for it as I felt most hair stripping products are in or around the same price. I was disappointed though about how little product was in the bottle. I have shoulder length, fine, thin hair and I struggled with one bottle of it. And at the price they go for I would expect more, and if I had thicker hair I would definitely go to a salon as it would be totally overpriced to go with this product. Having said that it did take all of the colour out of my hair and I am nearly at my desired shade. 23 November 2013
Would recommend but need more than one application I have to say I was VERY skeptical about this as I have been colouring my hair for years, I used schwartkoff xxl chocolate and then a red to try to pull the colour down as it was FAR too dark. No success, all I did was make it worse. Then tried light but again NO success then I found out about this. I am sure some of the colours I have used have silicone in so since I've used straighteners for years I wasn't holding out much hope so brought 2 bottles. After first application my roots were VERY blonde the rest hardly seemed touched so I thought oh no and considered a colour remover but persevered and tried the second application. This time MUCH better however I do have very blonde roots and am pratically carrot ginger everywhere else. The only colour difference is my roots to the rest of my hair which I am very pleased about as I did expect some difference and patches as I thought I may not have covered my hair correctly. I did try clingfilm wrapped round to assist but I think this hindered the process so I would recommend just applying the lotion and combing it through and leaving it to develop with nothing covering. I will be trying a third application...this might not be ideal so I wouldn't personally suggest you do that but my hair has been in excellent condition so will risk it this once. If you don't want to spend the fortune a hairdresser charges to strip your colour then I definitely recommend trying this but be warned you will need more than one application, in my opinion. Hopefully I wont need to strip my hair again but if I were to I would use this product again. 04 July 2012
Works like a charm! I don't quite understand why anyone is having problems with this product... it's basically foolproof if you actually follow the instructions given! Getting the powder into the bottle was a bit of a pain and in future I'd either use a bowl or a small funnel to avoid spilling. Spills were easy to clean up though. The product does come out thickly and anyone with hair longer than chin length will definitely need more than one of these. I have very short hair (pixie cut) so didn't have any problem distributing it. I forgot to use a comb like the instructions said though! It doesn't say to wrap your head for this one (unlike the other Decolour product), so I didn't. I imagine it reacts with oxygen the way hair dye does. The result? I got from ginger to a decent (albeit brassy) shade of blonde! I was VERY happy with this result - this is NOT intended to be the end product, but just a prelightener before you dye your hair, so there was bound to be a lot of warmth left over. It does say in the instructions to expect this so I don't see why anyone is complaining. This stuff is great value for money and I would definitely use it again in future. My hair did feel dry after use, BUT I skipped the conditioner because I was going to dye my hair right after and I wanted to make sure the colour would take okay. I also reviewed the other Decolour product which I'm linking to, I used that before using this product as I wanted to get from black to blonde in one day. (My natural colour is brown with red/copper tones.) This is a fab product. 12 November 2014
