  1. Choose an area close to the area to be treated.
  2. Apply one flash at the lowest recommended intensity for your skin type.
  3. Increase the setting by one level within the recommended range of settings as long as the flash feels comfortable on the skin. Do not apply more than one flash on the same spot.
  4. After the test, wait 24 hours and check if there are any skin reactions. If there are, choose the highest setting that did not result in any skin reactions for subsequent use.

You are now are now ready to move onto using your Philips Lumea or Philips Lumea Precision.

Using the Philips Lumea: Five Steps to smooth skin every day

1.
Pre-shave the treatment area to ensure the light energy is channelled to the follicle in the most efficient and gentle way. This is only required for the first few treatments, while you are experiencing hair regrowth.
Step 1
2.
Select the light intensity according to your skin tone and body hair colour –

Step 2
3.
Apply gentle pulses of light to the hair. The light produces heat in the hair, which is transferred to the hair follicle. This stimulates the hair follicle to go into a resting phase.
Step 3
4.
As a consequence the hair sheds naturally and hair re-growth is inhibited.
Step 4

*Clinical studies show best results after four or five bi-weekly treatments. For smooth, hair free skin every day, simply repeat treatment every four to six weeks. Time between treatments may vary based on your individual hair regrowth.

On average, it will take approximately 1.5 minutes to treat each underarm, 5 minutes to treat the entire bikini area and 1 minute to treat the upper lip / chin / sideburns while it takes around 20 minutes to treat one full leg.
