Free contact lens Trial and Assessment

Watch our video to find out how having a Free Contact Lens Assessment at one of Boots Opticians can help you work out whether contact lenses are suitable for you.

Did you know that 95 per cent of Boots Opticians customers who wear glasses could try contact lenses?

However, we know that taking the step to try contact lenses can feel quite a big decision, which is why, at Boots Opticians we offer a free contact lens trial and assessment service.

There are lots of reasons to consider trying contact lenses:

  • They can give you a whole new look, whether you want to wear them every day, or just for special occasions or a night out
  • They can give you more flexibility, for example, you might want to use them to play sport
  • Once you get used to them, they're very easy to use

*Based on Boots Opticians prescriptions dispensed between 14 - 31 March 2011.

What happens at the trial and assessment?

An "assessment" might sound quite formal, but, because wearing contacts lenses is quite a big change for some people, it's important that our experts spend some time with you, talking you through the various options and answering any questions you have, so that together we can work out if contact lenses might be right for you.

  • Firstly we'll check your vision and eye health so we can advise you about which type of contact lenses might best suit your needs. We will also establish what prescription you require, as it may have changed from the last time you had an eye check
  • We'll discuss your requirements and preferences so that we understand when you might wear your contact lenses, how often you'll want to wear them and for how long
  • We will advise you of the benefits of each of the different lenses and you'll learn how to wear and look after your contact lenses
  • If contact lenses are suitable for you, we can organise your free trial of contact lenses
  • We'll also tell you about the Boots Opticians Contact Lens Reward Scheme which offers 10 per cent off all Boots brand products in our Boots stores** - for example No7, Soltan and Boots Pharmaceuticals - as well as half price glasses and free eye checks

What types of contact lenses are available?

Whether you're long-sighted, short-sighted or have Astigmatism there are different contact lenses available. Our free contact lens trial and assessment will help you decide the best option for you.

There are different types of contact lenses available including:

  • Daily reusable lenses - these are ideal if you plan to wear your lenses all the time as one pair can last up to 30 days. Simply clean them at the end of the day and store them overnight in their case
  • Daily disposable lenses - wear a fresh pair every day, which means no cleaning and no hassle

Some lenses also offer UV protection so you can help protect your eyes from the sun, which is really important for your eye health and could be useful if you spend lots of time outdoors, either working or playing sport.

You can keep most modern contact lenses in all day and some lenses can even be worn overnight. Even if you don't want to wear lenses all the time, this doesn't mean they aren't right for you. Many people wear contact lenses for a night out, a special occasion, a sport or hobby, or even for holidays.

Boots Opticians will give you the advice that you need to help you make the right decision about contact lenses. To make an appointment for a free contact lens trial and assessment call 0845 125 3572.
