Minor make-up trauma? Streaky tan? Don’t cancel that party! Beauty’s leading lights have turned fairy godmother (and father) to dish up their SOS secrets so you can go to the ball.

Beauty Problem: You've got five minutes to whip up an office-to-party make up look.

Fast beauty tip: Think colourful eyeliner, says Karen Mason, celebrity make-up artist who works with Clinique. “Apply Clinique Kohl Shaper for Eyes in Amethyst Kohl on the inside of the eye and run along top of the lashes for instant glamour.”

Beauty Problem: You need to conceal a spot.

Fast beauty tip: Grab yourself a small pointed brush and an opaque skin-matching concealer (try Rimmel London Hide the Blemish), says Lee Pycroft who has worked with Elle MacPherson and Gwyneth. “A concealer that’s too light ends up highlighting the blemish. Dab on the spot, wiping the excess product off the brush when blending the edges for a seamless finish.”

Beauty Problem: Your make-up looks tired and cakey

Fast beauty tip: Just add moisture. “Pat a small amount of moisturiser onto your face. Once dry, this will instantly liven up the skin,” says Karen. “To finish, reapply your makeup to your key areas: concealer, powder, blusher and lip gloss. Rather than retouching your mascara, invest in a long-wearing and waterproof option.” Try Clinique Lash Power Mascara.

Beauty Problem: Your hair is greasy but there’s no time to wash it.

Fast beauty tip: Get your hands on some dry shampoo (try Lee Stafford Poker Straight Dry Shampoo),” says stylist Lee Stafford. “Spray from about 16 cm onto the greasy root area and gently rub away the excess powder with your fingers.” Result: “hair that’s full of body and volume.”

Beauty Problem: You missed a bit with the fake tan.

Fast beauty tip: “A touch of darker foundation mixed with a moisturiser and smoothed over the area will instantly help even it out,” says Lee. “Another option is to fill in areas with an Instant Spray Tan, they’re quick and easy to use and will wash off at the end of the night.” Try Soap & Glory One Night Tanned or Rimmel London Sun Shimmer Instant Tan.

Beauty Problem: Your eyes look tired and partied out

Fast beauty tip: Ditch the heavy eye make-up which emphasises weary eyes. “Apply light, sparkly eye makeup, keep it simple and create definition around the eye to lift and lighten,” says Karen whose eye brightening trick is to apply Clinique Colour Surge Eyeshadow to the inner and outer eye corners.

Beauty Problem: You need a work-to-party ‘do – in 5 minutes

Fast beauty tip: Think heated rollers, says John Frieda Stylist Scott Ade. “Setting the hair on heated rollers is quick, fuss free and creates instant glamour.  Use the time they’re cooling to apply your make-up before brushing out hair for an instant 40s glamour wave.” Tip: rollers must reach optimum heat for this speedy style. Try Babyliss Thermoceramic Rollers.

Beauty Problem: Your manicure looks shabby; you need a speedy solution

Fast beauty tip: Remove that polish! “Then apply cuticle oil and buff your nails to a glass-like finish,” says nail guru Leighton Denny. “With a little extra time, paint nails with one coat of Urban Retreat UR Covered and spritz Urban Retreat UR Rushed to prevent mishaps and smudges.”

Beauty Problem: Your hairstyle always drops

Fast beauty tip: “To make a style last, apply lots of mousse to the roots and styling lotion to the mid lengths and ends before blow drying,” explains George Northwood, Creative Director at Daniel Hersheson. “Blow-dry the hair 100% dry and it should last – the more heat is used the better, within reason.  Elnett Hairspray will also seal it in and make it hold.”

Beauty Problem: your post-party skin looks puffy and grey

Fast beauty tip: “Use your cleansing time to help a puffy face,” says Urban Retreat facialist Anastasia Achilleos, who suggests leaning your elbows on a hard surface to help apply pressure whilst massaging in your cleanser to boost lymphatic circulation. “Remove with a warm, then cool, face cloth to prime skin for make-up and increase blood circulation for a natural glow.” Try Anastasia’s favourite cleanser, THE Cleanser by Urban Retreat.

Beauty Problem: Your lip colour has no staying power

Fast beauty tip: “Make sure the lips are free of lip balm; they should be moisturised but not greasy,” says Lee, who recommends a long-lasting moisturising lipstick (try Rouge Dior Replenishing Lip Colour or Rimmel Moisture Renew). “Press the colour onto the lips, blot with a tissue then press on colour again. Next, use a lip liner in a colour-matching shade and sketch around the lip line to build the lips where necessary. Finally, glide lip liner over your lipstick to help seal in colour and get a long-lasting result.”
