Pillar-box red and rich scarlet pouts suit everyone and were all the rage on the autumn/winter catwalks in 2008. To make this style wearable, ‘drench lips in a bold colour but keep the rest of your make-up neutral’, says celebrity make-up artist Chase Aston.
Want to be even more on trend? Choose a matt lip shade instead of a gloss. This is a womanly and classic take on the über-glossy textures we’ve seen in the past. ‘Application is key,’ says Chase. ‘Use a lip liner to stencil your lips before filling in with colour.’ This will lock the lipstick in place and stop it from bleeding.

A soft blush
Bashful corals and sunny apricot shades instantly give a dull complexion a boost and flatter all skintones. Apply colour underneath your cheekbones and blend with fingers.
The new peroxide blonde
The whiter-than-white shade is this season’s latest hair colour trend. Think
head-turning, old-school glamour.
The wave revival
If peroxide blonde doesn't suit you, nothing finishes off a look better than a polished hairstyle. Tousled and bouncy curls balance glamorous make-up and cinch-waisted clothing. Prefer your hair up? Backcomb the crown before twisting and securing in a high chignon, letting wisps fall sexily over your face.
