“Autumn/Winter 08 nails is all about edgy and dramatic nail colours”, says Leighton, “Make a statement by moving away from the natural look and wear bold, strong colours with confidence”
“Red nails will once again be a classic favourite for the winter season and as statement nails are the name of the game feel free to opt for your brightest pillar-box reds,” says Leighton.
“Urban Retreat Classic Nail Duo has a great vibrant red called UR A-List - this colour can look great on dark & medium skin tones but can be a bit overpowering for fair skin tones.”
Leighton also recommends that those with fair skin should steer away from reds with an orange undertone.
Boots recommends: No7 Speed Dry Nail Colour in Siren
“Pinks are usually reserved for the summer months but if you choose deep pinks rather than vibrant pinks you can transfer this look into a winter trend this season. Dusky rose pinks suit all skin tones - it is very flattering”, says Leighton.
Boots recommends Rimmel Wear Maxx Russet Flame“Barely there pinks look great on darker skin tones but can look a bit can look a bit lost on pale skin tones.”
Boots recommends Maybelline Forever Strong nail varnish in Porcelain
“For original colour trends this season - look out for purples, blue/greens and grey/blues” says Leighton, “Bright colours always look great on dark skin tones so try something different with a metallic aquamarine.”
“Deep purple shades look great on medium skin tones but pale skin tones should stick with soft berry and lilac shades.” Boots recommends Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in Lavender Marquis
“Gold is also making another comeback this season for the ultimate party look, try the Metallic Nail Duo from my Urban Retreat range. It looks really great on medium and dark skin tones but those with pale skins are probably best opting for a silver metallic shade.”
