Calling all mums! If the thought of having to glam yourself up for the party season makes you want to run for the hills, fear not. Make up needn’t be a time-consuming nightmare with these tips from make-up artist Lucy Halperin.

No time to research what’s hot and what’s not in the world of cosmetics? Don’t panic, just work with what you have and you’ll be party perfect in no time, says Revlon’s UK make-up artist Lucy Halperin. Her advice for busy mums: “Pick your best feature and concentrate on it,” she says.

Here’s how to…

…Create dramatic eyes (easily)

“Most women’s key feature is their eyes as it is the first part of the face that people notice,” says Lucy.  For a dramatic look that’s perfect for a glam Christmas, (transforming you from worn-out and weary to yummy mummy), apply a quick sweep of black liquid liner to your upper lash line and curl your eyelashes. A few seconds on each lash followed by a coat or two of lengthening mascara such as Yves Saint Laurent Everlong Lengthening Mascara will help create a sultry, wide-eyed 40’s Hollywood starlet effect a la Dita Von Teese – minus the effort. Our tip: add a few extra coats of mascara to outer lashes for a flirty, feline effect.

Dramatic eye kit:

YSL Everlong Lengthening Mascara
Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Liner

…Whip up head-turning Lips

Lips your best asset? For a glamorous, head-turning look, “Go a shade darker with your lipstick,” suggests Lucy, who has worked with celebrities such as Kate Moss and Helena Christensen. Be daring with this season’s shades of winterberry and plum.  Try Revlon’s Superlustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry – moisturising and right on trend. Apply straight from the bullet for a bolder effect or create a gentle stain by patting on with your fingers.

…Glam up your feet

Don’t let December’s wintry weather stop you from wearing your best killer heels. After all, Christmas time is an excuse to get glam! Ensure your feet are stiletto-worthy by giving them a quick soak in Margaret Dabbs’ Hydrating Foot Soak. Add to a bowl of warm water or, if you’re really strapped for time, put the plug in while your having a shower, pop in some foot soak and swish your feet around whilst you wash. Moisturise your feet with Boots Intensive Moisturiser, give them a lick of polish and you’re good to go. For a super-glam pedicure, Lucy recommends using black nail polish. “I love Revlon’s nail enamel in Blackest Black; it makes your feet look really sexy” she says.
