Online prescriptions: NHS or private prescriptions
Because we know it's not always easy or convenient to come into a pharmacy to get your medicine, the Boots online prescription service lets you order a one-off prescription online.
After you've ordered, simply post us your NHS or private prescription and we will then send your medicine to any UK address or post office, usually within two days of receiving your prescription (subject to stock availability).

How much will the online prescription service cost?
Online private Prescriptions
There are charges which apply to private prescriptions and these vary depending on the medicine. The prices for each private prescription medicine can be found within the ordering system.
We will deliver your medicines free of charge if the total cost of your order is over £45. If your total order is less than £45 you will pay £2.95 postage cost.
Online NHS prescriptions
If you live in England and pay for your NHS prescription, you will pay the standard cost of a prescription in England, currently £8.05, plus £2.95 postage costs.
Because our online pharmacy is based in England, the NHS prescription charges and rules for England will still apply if you live in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. If you live outside of England please read important information about prescription charges and exemptions .
We will send you an email or text message when we have sent your medicine, so you know when to expect it.
Veterinary prescriptions can differ in price from those prescriptions we get for ourselves. To get a quote for your prescription for your pet, please call Boots' online pharmacy on 01922 649709 and they will talk you through the service and support they can provide.
What do I do next?
There are three very simple steps when using the online prescription service once you have logged in. First, you will be asked to either log into your Boots account or, if you are a new customer, you will be asked to register for an account.Then:
You will need details of your doctor and the medicine you need and in what quantity. Remember, there is often a difference between the pharmaceutical name for a medicine and the actual name of the product on the packaging.

Do I need to send you my prescription?
If you have chosen to get your prescription dispensed via our online pharmacy then you will need to post your prescription to us before we can dispense your order.

When will I receive my medicines?
We will notify you when we have dispatched your order. This will normally be within two working days of us receiving your prescription from you. Your prescription will be sent via Royal Mail first class recorded delivery, so it will usually be delivered within two working days of dispatch.
Can I get other products delivered with my prescription?
Unfortunately not. Our prescriptions have to be dispensed from a Boots registered pharmacy, whilst other products are sent from our central warehouse. Therefore prescription medicines are dispatched separately.
I would like to talk to a pharmacist about my prescription
If you would like any information or advice from your Boots pharmacist at the same time as collecting your medicine, then please bring your prescription into any one of our 2,500 pharmacies nationwide. Find your local Boots pharmacy with our store locator .
Other prescription services
If you have to take the same medicine regularly, your doctor may have given you a repeat prescription. If so, you may find it useful to register for our Free Repeat Prescriptions Service , which can save you time on trips to your doctor's surgery.
