Since then we went on to expand to 286 practices nationwide offering a wide range of services, including eye examinations, digital retinal photography, glasses, contact lenses and accessories.

In the last year a lot has changed at Boots Opticians. Boots Opticians merged with Dollond & Aitchison Opticians in May 2009. Both businesses had a strong heritage and an excellent reputation for service, customer care and quality products, which provided a great opportunity to combine these strengths and offer customers even better value for money, harnessing over 250 years of optical experience.

The new company, registered as Boots Opticians, is jointly owned by De Rigo and Alliance Boots (previous owners of Boots Opticians), in total has around 690 branches across the UK, and directly employs more than 5,000 people. It continues to focus upon service and customer care, building upon the strong heritage and reputation of each of the successful, constituent businesses.
