Suitable from birth, the pram is a haven for sleepy newborns. Until they're three months old, babies need their necks and backs supporting, and prams give them the space to lie back comfortably. Luckily, there are foldable, compact and lightweight pram options to make travelling easier.
A sturdy and comfortable all-rounder, many pushchairs are foldable for travel and have adjustable back positions some can even completely recline to accommodate newborns. Wait until your baby or toddler can sit up before using a pushchair with a more upright incline. There are also three-wheeled options available for jogging or rough terrain.
Although pushchairs can be used until your child is six, you may find yourself wanting a simpler option for travelling before then. Buggies and strollers are the most lightweight transport out there; they can be easily folded up to pop into car boots and are great for a day out.
If you have twins or want to push your toddler as well as your newborn, you'll need double the seats and space ! Double pushchairs with side-by-side seats are handy if you're accommodating twins, whilst a tandem pushchair can keep your newborn and toddler more separate.
Super versatile, travel systems can include a carrycot, pushchair and car seat, or a pushchair and car seat. Convenient for carrying a sleeping baby from car to pushchair, the car seat attaches to the chassis of the system, and a carrycot can be used for your newborn to sleep.
