When it comes to buying for your baby's nursery, it may seem that there are a million things to buy and endless expenses to cover. Here's our guide to getting the right products for your budget

Cot mobile

Budget: Zooby Island Musical Cot Mobile £19.99

Why we love it: Lovely design that easily clips on to the side of your baby's cot and plays soothing music whilst the mobile slowly rotates.

Luxury buy: Fisher Price Rainforest Peek-A-Boo Cot Mobile £39.99

Why we love it: Brings the magic of the rainforest to your baby's cot. Using the remote you can start classic music from Bach, Beethoven and Mozart or soothing sounds from the rainforest. And when it's time to remove the mobile from the cot, convert it into a music box with a soft, glowing night light so baby can enjoy sweet dreams for months and years to come.

Budget: Chicco Moon Nightlight Blue £12.99

Why we love it: Fixed with a convenient adjustable strap and at a great value price, this nightlight has soft coloured lights and classical melodies by Bach and Mozart to soothe your baby to sleep.

Luxury buy: Tomy Winnie The Pooh Sweet Dreams Nightlight £24.99

Why we love it: An enchanting cot projector with a lightshow featuring Winnie The Pooh and friends. It has two modes: a sleep time mode and a wake-up mode. The sleep mode has voice activation so if baby starts crying, the lullabies and lightshow will help to re-settle.

Budget: Cosatto Snoozi Jolly Jelly Bouncer £25.99

Why we love it: A bright design, and a toy bar to keep baby entertained that can also be removed.

Luxury buy: BabyBjorn Babysitter Balance Black/Silver £99.99

Why we love it: A stylish and ergonomic design which provides proper support for baby's spine and neck. Children find themselves rocking themselves in the Babysitter fun and relaxing. It is easy to fold and has three positions: play, rest and sleep.

Changing Mat

Budget: Boots Change Mat Blue £5.99

Why we love it: A simple design and also available in pink or green to match your nursery.

Luxury buy: Koto Make A Wish Bear Changing Mat & Cover £24.99

Why we love it: It's soft, padded and very easy to clean and fits in beautifully with the Make A Wish Bear nursery collection.

Budget: Tomy Classic Monitor TA100 £34.99

Why we love it: Great budget buy; good, clear sound, with 300m range and a sound sensitive light indicator. Displays room temperature and has a nightlight with a soft comforting glow for baby.

Luxury buy: Motorola MBP35 Digital Video Baby Monitor £149.99

Why we love it: Provides crystal clear sound and a 3.5" LCD video display, infrared night vision, temperature monitor and a high sensitivity microphone. You can monitor baby from anywhere in your home and it lets you comfort baby with five remote lullabies and a baby unit nightlight.

Changing station

Budget: Saplings Cot-top changer £22.99

Why we love it: Great for saving space, with a lovely pine finish.

Luxury buy: Cosatto Easi Peasi Changing Unit Zuton £99.99

Why we love it: A maneuverable changing station that's both soft and comfy for baby and practical for parents. It features a safe mattress with a bath underneath with a practical drainage hose.

Nappy bin

Budget: Boots Essential Nappy Pail £3.99

Why we love it: A basic product at a very basic price – allows you to hygienically get rid of those dirty nappies.

Luxury buy: Tommee Tippee Nappy Wrapper Tub £29.99

Why we love it: A simple way of dealing with nappy waste, getting rid of germs and smells with a twist - meaning fewer trips to the outside bin!

Budget: Boots Nursery Thermometer £9.99

Why we love it: A simple design which lets you monitor the temperature with an easy read display which shows you current maximum and minimum temperature.

Luxury buy: Grobag Egg Colour Changing Digital Room Thermometer £21.95

Why we love it: The egg glows a different colour according to the temperature – yellow means it's perfect, blue means your baby may be too cold and orange or red means that the room is too hot. The glowing colour means you only need to glance at it to know whether your baby is a comfortable temperature.
