Product description

The Mooncup is designed by women for your comfort and convenience. Made in the UK, the soft medical grade silicone Mooncup holds three times as much as a tampon, making it great for heavy days. And, because it’s non-absorbent, it won’t cause dryness when your period’s light. You only need one Mooncup, which lasts for years. Suitable for women with sensitive skin and allergies. Unlike tampons, the Mooncup won’t expose your body to pesticides or bleaches, leave fibres behind or dry you out. And because there’s no string, the Mooncup is completely discreet, whatever you’re wearing. Ideal for travelling, swimming, exercise and overnight use.

The Mooncup is worn internally, lower than a tampon, and collects rather than absorbs your menstrual fluid. It is folded and inserted into the vagina and opens up once it’s inside. You will need to remove and empty the Mooncup every 4 to 8 hours depending on your flow. The Mooncup is then simply rinsed out or wiped, and reinserted. It can be cleaned more thoroughly between periods.

Mooncup size B is recommended for women under the age of 30 who have not given birth vaginally.

Love/Hate Relationship And yet, I've still given it five stars. I hate using pads and tampons - I have really heavy periods and I find the whole situation unhygienic and uncomfortable. I'm prone to leakages and I'm constantly worried and paranoid. I found out about the Mooncup after reading an article aimed at under 30s highlighting how good they are, trying to dispel their almost 'hippy' reputation. I unfortunately didn't get a chance to practice before my period, as it arrived the day I bought the cup (I get little warning as to when that day will occur). One thing that is so important is not to panic. The more you panic, the tenser you become and then there's no way you'll be able to insert the cup. My first try, the absolute only way I was able to insert it was by lying on my back with my legs in the air - most awkward and impractical. I then thought I'd better check I'd be able to remove it; that was probably more horrible than the insertion. Again, lying down was the only way. I honestly thought it would be stuck forever, but again, the key was to calm down and relax. As my periods are so heavy, the first day I was extremely paranoid that the cup would become full, the seal would break and there would be a 'flood', as I knew there would be no way in the world I'd be able to successfully remove and reinsert it in the toilet cubicles at work. Thankfully, when I removed it when I got home, I needn't have worried at all. I've now been using it for four days and even with the trials and tribulations of insertion and removal, this product is still a thousand times better than using tampons and pads. I can now actually get on with my day without worrying that there's going to be a leak. It's so much more hygienic and I'm not paranoid that I smell. You completely forget you're wearing it, in fact, I completely forgot that I was on my period! I swear that my cramps have significantly reduced. I used to wear tampons during the day and pads at night. I found pads uncomfortable and non-breathable - I used to burn up and sweat terribly in the night, which was obviously fuelled by the period, but I swear the pads compounded it, as this hasn't happened once since using the cup at night. Insertion and removal has now become much easier and this has been a sound investment. Be calm and patient and I know you'll agree. 01 February 2014
Great Product I've used the mooncup for 3 cycles now and I won't go back. Pros: - More comfortable, especially at night - Less leaky than tampons - Need changing less often - Healthier - More eco-friendly - Cheaper - More compact Cons: - More difficult & messy - Any leaks are likely to be dramatic - Learning curve After getting the hang of it the cons became non-existent :) 01 March 2014
Nothing short of amazing! Every woman should know about the mooncup - it is easily one of the best products I have EVER purchased. I have been using the mooncup for over five years and it just takes the hassle and bother out of periods. You never run out of a mooncup (unlike tampons) and it never leaks. I don't worry about whether i've had it in too long, if anything it's so comfortable and reliable I sometimes forget I'm on my period when using it. It feels a bit odd at first, but it is very easy to use and very user friendly. I must have saved hundreds of pounds over the years through using the mooncup as I never buy tampons. I also love the fact that it's environmentally friendly. I have recommended this to all my friends and my sisters. I love this product so much! 18 August 2013

Smarter sanitary protection. The soft silicone Mooncup is worn internally, lower than a tampon, and can be reused for every period.
