L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss Chocolate Caramel 603 Semi Permanent Hair Colour
Good overall dye
Overall I found this hair dye very good, it was easy to use, smelled nice and left my hair a nice colour and very shiny. My only critic is the colour, but itâs probably more my fault than the actual product.
I have dark brown hair, and I selected the Chilli Chocolate (which Boots don't stock!) as I wanted to add a red hint to my hair. Unfortunately the colour was very very subtle, so subtle you canât really see it! This disappointed me, but I think I should have selected a more red colour to get the colour hint I was after (the Berry or Cherry Red).
I found the dye easy to apply, and surprisingly there was more than enough to cover my thick mid length hair. In days past I used to dye my hair regularly, and I would often have to buy 2 packets to get the coverage I needed, not the case here, lots of dye. I slightly damped my hair before starting, so perhaps that helped distribute the dye around more effectively? I wasnât too sure about the âdivide and applyâ instructions, I tried that but gave up and just splatted it on, rubbing it in like a shampoo! It didnât drip at all, and I was able to pile my hair on top of my head once Iâd finished applying, so no need to try and clip it up while the dye did its thing.
When finished I jumped in the shower and just rinsed and rinsed until the water ran clear. I then applied the very luxurious conditioner to my hair, combed it through and rinsed that out. The conditioner is ample for several hair washes, just a shame the bottle doesnât have a flat bottom (or top) â you have to store it lying down which means getting the last bits out very hard.
I dried my hair (leaving a lovely brown stain on my towel but thatâs to be expected, no matter how much you rinse) and admired the colour⦠it was shiny and a solid colour, but mostly just a slightly darker shade of brown to my natural colour.
The colour lasted well, itâs been about a month since I applied and itâs still looks nice. I think the colour has faded slightly (itâs not as dark), but I do wash my hair 3-4 times a week! I think the dye actually calmed some of my frizz, which is a bonus I wasnât expecting. Iâll certainly use this product again if I wanted to dye my hair, and recommend it to my friends.

Not complete coverage for greys
My first impressions of the product was extremely high. The packaging was great and the unique style of the box mad it look very high end.
On opening the pack the bottles and times seemed clearly labelled although the instruction leaflet was a bit confusing at first. The two languages were mixed together so was often unclear where I should be reading.
I had to wet my hair to start which I'd not done when previously colouring my hair. The colour was easy and straightforward to mix had had a pleasant smell.
After sectioning my hair the cream was easy to apply to wet hair and produced a nice easy to mix mousse. There was plenty of colour to use on my long hair.
I left it on for 20 minutes and it rinsed off well. The conditioner smelt lovely although the bottle it came in was very awkward to get all the conditioner out of!
After rinsing off i was eager to see the results. The colour was nice although I was somewhat disappointed because some of my greys weren't coloured so not the best result unfortunately.
I received the product for free, to try and review, from L'Oreal.

This is nice to use and is a lovely colour but it doesn't last long on the grey hairs unfortunately.
