Eye health and regular eye checks

At Boots Opticians it is our ambition to help more people see & feel better than ever by having an eye check. Supported by RNIB and Action for Blind People.


At Boots Opticians we know how important it is to look after your eyes. A regular eye check will detect any problems with your vision that may be impacting on your day to day life, whilst also checking for eye health or general health issues.

Currently four in 10 people say that they do not have their eyes checked on a regular basis*, yet 50% of sight loss is avoidable**. We want to make more people aware that an eye check is about more than just what you can and cannot see it can also help detect the early signs of health conditions such as glaucoma and diabetes, which in some cases can cause vision loss.

We recommend that adults have an eye check every two years, and for children up to the age of 16 and adults over 70 an annual eye check is recommended.

The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and Action for Blind People offer information, support and advice to almost two million people with sight loss in the UK and are committed to preventing sight loss.

As well as lend their support to our campaign the RNIB and Action for Blind have also shared with us their top tips for healthy eyes.
