Things to know before you go

There are a few things you should consider before you make travel plans.

  • No cover is provided under Boots Travel Insurance policies for any trip in, to or through Afghanistan, Cuba, Liberia or Sudan areas where the Foreign and Commonwealth Office have advised against all but essential travel
  • Boots Travel Insurance will be governed by Scottish Law if you live in Scotland and the law of England and Wales if you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom, unless we agree otherwise
  • We are working with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to do all that we can to help British travellers stay safe overseas. Wherever you are going, you should check the guidance from the FCO at their website www.fco.gov.uk/knowbeforeyougo or telephone 0845 850 2829

Boots Advantage Card

If you have a Boots Advantage Card you can gain points when you buy Boots Travel Insurance:

  • You will collect 4 points for every £1 spent on Boots Travel Insurance
  • After shopping online or via the call centre, your advantage card points will be added to your account and available for you to use online 24 hours after your purchase

Motor cycling during your trip

Boots Travel Insurance will cover you while using a two-wheeled motor vehicle provided you wear a crash helmet. If you are the driver, you must hold a license which permits you to drive the two-wheeled motor vehicle under the laws of the country where you will be driving (if such a license is required under the laws of that country).

If you are the passenger, you must wear a crash helmet and you must have reasonable grounds to believe that the driver holds a license to drive the two-wheeled motor vehicle under the laws of the country where you will be motor cycling (if such a license is required under the laws of that country).

Travel exclusions

Travel insurance is available for UK residents who are under 70 years of age for Single Trip and for Multi Trip and 35 for Gap Year policies. As with any insurance there are certain exclusions, including claims due to a medical condition or illness that was known about at the time of taking out your policy or booking your trip whichever is later.

If you're 70 or over you may be able to obtain an alternative travel Insurance policy via Insurancewith in partnership with Boots on 0845 125 3830 and selecting option 2 (lines open 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 5pm on Saturday). Calls may be recorded for quality and training purposes.
