Information & Advice
Whether in summer sandals or peeptoes, there's nothing like a fresh pedicure to help your feet look more polished. Regularly schedule in an at home pedicure and your feet will thank you for it, says nails inc's Vanessa Williams, who suggests treating your feet to a professional pedicure treatment at least once a month "to stay on top of it". Here's how Vanessa suggests you create a basic pedicure at home.
1. Soak your feet
Always soak the feet in warm water before you start your pedicure. This makes it easier to file nails and remove hard skin.
2. Cut and file
After drying your feet, cut and file your toenails. Never file or cut the toenails round; always keep them square to avoid ingrown nails and avoid cutting them too short as it can become uncomfortable; the nail is there to protect our toes. Always file after you've cut your toenails to create a smooth finish.
3. Exfoliate and moisturise
Next you need to remove hard skin using a foot exfoliator. Afterwards, apply foot cream (try to apply foot cream every day if you can. If the hard skin persists, go on to use a pumice stone or rasp, but only once a week, and continue to exfoliate and apply your foot cream.
4. Apply your base coat
Now you need to apply a base coat such as nails inc's A&E Base Coat. This will ensure that your polish lasts longer without staining your nails. Your base coat will also create a smooth surface which will make your nails inc Nail Polish look even more fabulous!
5. Finish with polish and topcoat
Finally, apply two coats of your favourite polish. We would recommend nails inc's St James, Chinatown or Brook Street nail polish shades, which are all great pedicure shades. Finish with nails inc's 45 second Caviar Top Coat for a super-glossy finish.
