Eye Eye! Make up for glasses

Glasses really help to accentuate your eyes so using the right make up will help you work them to the max!

This season is a great time to experiment with different make up looks as there are so many trends that look fabulous with glasses. So, it's time to make your glasses part of your own unique style - after all, they really are your 'must-have' accessory!

From liner on the bottom lash line to bold statement lips, there's something to complement every style of frames and help you spice up your look for spring.

Bottom line colour

Get the look:

As the tops of eyes are typically hidden by frames, focus attention on your bottom lash line with a coloured liner. This is a top trend this season, seen everywhere from Fendi to Moschino to Stella McCartney and is really flattering on glasses wearers.

Pick one of the hot colours of the season such as electric blue and you're onto a winner. It's all about kohl pencil rather than liquid liner so choose a highly pigmented pencil and carefully draw it along your lower lash line, working from the inside out. For real intensity, skip the mascara on your bottom lashes for a solid, bold line.

The make up:

The frames:

Half-rimmed glasses will really accentuate this look as the line won't be hidden by the bottom rim. Classic colours such as black or brown will also ensure the full attention stays on the liner.

Super-bright red

Get the look:

A statement lip is a great way to add a burst of colour to your make up look and the best way to wear it is with minimal eyes, which can be great if you wear glasses. This season sees a modern twist on the classic red lip with an almost neon, matte-look finish. Think brilliant, bright, colour pop crimson and steer clear of lip gloss! For real definition add a touch of white powder onto your cupid's bow, as seen at Prada.

This look really stands out when paired with solid black full-rimmed glasses.

White out

Get the look:

A few dots of white eyeshadow in the centre and inner corners of your eyelid will really open up your eyes and make you look bright eyed. Many of us would run a mile at the mention of white eyeshadow but fear not, it doesn't have to be extreme, just a dusting of subtle colour works wonders. This looks great with glasses as it helps to shape and define your eyes so they stand out under your frames. If you have highly magnified lenses, try blending a flattering cappuccino eyeshadow into the socket line for extra definition.

The make up:

The frames:

This look is fabulous with full-rimmed coloured frames as your eyes will look bright and defined.

Barely bronzed

Get the look:

A subtle bronzed glow is perfect for glasses wearers as you can leave your eyes to their natural beauty and let your skin be the focus. Glowing complexions were seen everywhere this season from Nicole Farhi to Dolce & Gabbana, so think more sun-blushed than sun worshipper. Dust a pinky-brown bronzer over the cheeks, forehead and bridge of your nose for a subtle, sun-kissed glow and add a highlighter to cheek bones for a natural-looking lift.

The make up:

The frames:

It's great to mix up this natural look with coloured-rimmed glasses. Opt for thick edges if you want to stay on trend and go for warm colours such as gold, purple or bronze to complement your bronzed skin.
