Information & Advice
If you're celebrating Christmas with your colleagues, you might only have ten minutes after work to transform yourself into a festive goddess. Whether you need to tidy up stressed out hair or add some drama to your day time make up, these top tips from the experts will have you dazzling at the cocktail bar before you can say "Jingle Bells!"
When you're strapped for time, there's often no need to reapply a whole face of make up. A quick sweep of mattifying face powder will eliminate shine and rejuvenate your complexion, while a cheek tint gives a long-lasting, dewy finish that looks natural and fresh. It can also double as a lip colour!
Lining the eyes is a quick way to totally transform your daytime look. A liquid eye liner with a nib or felt tip is great for strong, graphic eyes, as it makes application precise and easy. Pair with a dab of light eye shadow in the inner corners to make eyes appear brighter and wide awake after a long day at the office.
For crisp defined lines, lightly pull the skin taught around the eye while applying a liquid liner. If you struggle to get each side even, start by drawing a series of tiny dots along the shape you want to create, then join them up with one long sweep. You can clean up the edges with a cotton bud dipped in a gentle eye make up remover.
A statement lip is so quick to do, perfect for when you only have five minutes to update your make up. Vampy, berry-toned lips are huge this season and all it takes to pull them off is a little bit of courage! Go for a dark, cherry-chocolate shade for a look that exudes sophisticated glamour. After applying a coat of lipstick, blot with a tissue before reapplying and adding a gloss. This will help the colour to last, even after food and drink.
Nothing but a comb in your handbag? No problem! Use it to give lift and volume to hair that might feel lank after a long day by lightly teasing the roots of the hair around the crown, for a boost of volume. Smooth the top section over and behind the ears for sleek finish. Why not clip one side behind the ear with a pretty accessory, for a look inspired by "The Great Gatsby?"
If your hair is long, a fishtail braid is a stylish twist on a traditional plait, perfect for hitting the cocktail bars! With a bit of practice, it only takes five minutes. Give hair some texture and hold with a spritz of dry shampoo before loosely styling over one shoulder and securing with elastic. Keep the front sections of hair loose and gently tug the plait apart slightly, for a softer finish.
It's so easy to refresh an existing manicure for night time wear, by simply adding interesting French tips or a glitter top coat.
A touch of glitz will take your manicure from office chic to dance floor diva in a flash. Why not add an accent nail in a different colour for an on-trend twist?
The French manicure never goes out of fashion. If you have a nude manicure that's starting to chip, add burgundy tips for an updated, sophisticated version that's guaranteed to turn heads - it will even cover the chipped parts!
