Great for waves This product is great if you want subtle lose waves. It has adjustable heat settings which is great so you can adjust the temperature depending on your hair type, the heatproof mat and glove also come in handy. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who has hair shorter than shoulder-length as it probably wouldn't do much at all. 18 September 2012
Good for long hair This product does work well but only on long hair, I have varied length layers and it worked well on the longer ones producing a loose wave but not so well on the short ones leaving only a kink. Would suggest that for those with shorter hair they try the Remmington wand which is a bit thinner and easier to create curls with. Also make sure you use the glove or you WILL burn your fingers! 25 January 2013
Great for waves I have naturally curly hair - so why buy a curler, you ask?! Well, mother nature has not blessed me with easy flowing waves and spirals but rather an untidy mess of kinks and tight haphazard curls which follow no order whatsoever. Dragged through a hedge backwards is an appropriate description of my hair if left to its own devices. However I do like to wear my hair curly now and again but with mother nature winning the 'ugly curls' battle 99% of the time, it leaves me no choice but to straighten it. Bored of the straight look I decided to take action and invest in some curling tongs. Now to be clear if you have naturally curly hair which curls right at the roots I recommend you straighten it first with a hairdryer. The key to shiny waves is to begin with straight hair! Now so far my routine is to straighten it then curl it the next day as I do not like to straighten then curl on the same day (I have to use GHDs to get my hair straight). However, if your hair is in good condition, a bit less curly and you can get it pretty darn straight with a hairdryer without the use of GHDs then you can curl it the same day (or if you don’t care then fry away!!) To use these tongs you need to have quite long hair because the barrel is so fat. My hair is about armpit length and it works pretty well and looks natural. Any shorter than shoulder length and you may struggle I think. After straightening my hair, the next morning I spritz again with heat protector, part my hair centrally from the back of my head, then part it again just above my ears and pin the top sections out of the way. What you are looking to do is create the waves in sections so your curls are not too samey. After I pin up the top part, with the left and right sides I split these in half and curl them. I repeat the process on the top part of my hair. To clarify, you are working on 8 sections if your hair is pretty thick – 2 bottom left, 2 bottom right, 2 top left, 2 top right. If your hair is thinner you don’t have to section as much as I do. You-tube have lots of vids on how to use tongs. I find them really easy to use as they don’t have the clamp (I always used to end up trapping and pulling my hairs out and feeling rather sore!). The heat sensitive glove provided is a must to save your burning fingers! The results are impressive – really natural loose waves and because my hair has a curl already it lasts day after day and only drops out a tiny bit but I like that as I then get messy beachy waves which is fab! I have never found a curling product which works as well as this. It has different temperature settings which is great but it can get in the way when you are curling. Other than that, fantastic and well worth the money. 11 February 2013
