The Derma Care Daily Moisturising Regime™

Dry skin can be a life-long problem. Some dry skin sufferers spend years trying and discarding different lotions and products in a quest to find a moisturiser that works for them. What Derma Care offers is a daily moisturising regime that seeks to maintain the health of your skin as it changes with the weather, environment, hormones or age. Find out how to get the most out of Derma Care.

Our range of dry skin moisturisers for the face and body not only care for your skin on a daily basis, they may also help with outbreaks of dryness. Therefore, you can use Derma Care products to moisturise your face and body every day, including when you're suffering with flare-ups from eczema or dermatitis.

What makes dry skin different?

To understand dry skin, imagine healthy skin as a wall made of bricks and mortar. The mortar is the body's natural lipids (oils) which help keep the skin cells (bricks) hydrated. The skin protects the body from dirt, infection, allergens and irritants.

Where skin is dry there is loss of natural lipids (oils), the mortar, and loss of moisture so gaps and cracks can occur. This allows dirt, allergens and irritants to enter the skin which can lead to sore, cracked, irritated and inflamed skin.

The Derma Care Daily Moisturising Regime™ helps build and maintain the skin's natural barrier creating a Wall of Protection™ against the causes of dryness for healthier skin.

So what can I do?

By following a daily moisturising regime, dry skin sufferers can replace lost moisture and help prevent further moisture loss. When your skin is properly hydrated its barrier is maintained, which provides protection against external irritants, resulting in skin that is soothed, relieved and hydrated.

Why does my skin suffer flare-ups?

You may find your skin is prone to eczema and dermatitis flare-ups that leave it feeling red, dry and itchy - sometimes with blistering. These periods of irritation may result from not moisturising regularly, changes in the environment, hormonal changes or contact with certain substances that can dry your skin - or a host of other triggers. The itchiness associated with a flare-up can give you the urge to scratch, causing more itching and therefore more scratching. This makes your skin drier and may worsen flare-up.

What should I do?

As well as providing a daily moisturising regime for dry skin, Derma Care has products specially formulated to relieve itchiness, should it occur. You can use these products alongside your daily Derma Care moisturisers.
Continue with your daily moisturising regime, even when your skin is in flare-up. In addition, consider using an itch relief product such as Derma Care Itch Relief Cream** or a treatment product such as Derma Care Hydrocortisone 1% Cream*** or Ointment*** (available online or at Boots pharmacies) to reduce the flare-up symptoms.
Apply the treatment product 30 minutes after moisturising.

* Always read the label. (Stop using the cream and consult a doctor if symptoms persist, worsen or a rash occurs. Refer to a pharmacist if you have psoriasis. Do not use if you are allergic to the ingredients.)

** Always read the label. Contains crotamiton.
