Pain relief: Frequently asked questions

Find out answers to questions about pain relief products from Boots Pharmaceuticals.

Q. What about alternatives to tablets and capsules? Do you offer any other pain relief products?

A: Yes - we have a range of alternative pain relief products which can be used alongside tablets. Our Direct to Skin Heat Patch can be used for the relief of muscular aches, pain and backache. Each pack contains four, single-use patches which last for up to eight hours. When the adhesive side of the patch is placed over the painful area of the skin, the patch warms up gradually. Our Back Support Belt may provide relief from moderate back pain and warm the affected area. Our Freeze Gel and Freeze Spray also may help soothe and relax aching muscles and joints.

Q. Does the range include anything that may help aching muscles after sport?

A: The range includes our Freeze Gel and Freeze Spray. The Freeze Gel is a refreshing and innovative massage gel which may be beneficial in soothing aches and relaxing muscle tension. When massaged on to the skin, this non-oily gel has a cooling effect which relaxes tired and aching muscles. The Freeze Spray eases tense, tired muscles by cooling the affected area. It's a convenient product that may be used after sport or exercise.

Q. I'm seeking support for my back. Can you help?

A: Our Back Support Belt may provide relief from moderate back pain and support to the abdominal and spinal muscles, while allowing some movement. It may also relieve load on the spine and limit overstrain by supporting the muscles around the spine. It provides warmth to the affected area which stimulates blood circulation, generating a feeling of well-being. It may also aid posture.
