If you love ultra-feminine, pretty make-up, then this season’s obsession with all things pink is for you. Pink is the colour du jour this spring, but forget Barbie pink, we’re talking a feel-good, ‘just been for a country walk’ pink.
Hues of cotton candy, tea rose and blossom were awash on the catwalks this season, with models at Anna Sui, Versace and Sonia Rykiel sporting a fresh-faced, naturally pretty finish of rosebud lips and naturally flushed cheeks.
‘There’s nothing better or easier than a dusting of rosy blusher on your cheeks to perk up your complexion and give your skin a fresh, youthful appearance,’ says international make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury and founder of Myface cosmetics.
Work the English rose look, as seen at Anna Sui, with flawless looking skin, crème blush and just a hint of gloss to give a perfect rosy daytime glow.
For a more modern look, team soft pink lips with smoky eyes and slicked back hair, as seen backstage at Versace.
For pale skin tones
Delicate baby pinks are ideal for you, as they won’t overpower your porcelain complexion. But if you have a natural flush, forget blusher and opt for a delicate rose lip colour such as Myface High Definition Lip Pencil Fair in Rose Petal, applied all over lips. A dab of Vaseline will add a subtle sheen to rose-tinged lips.
For olive/Asian skin tones
Peachy pinks are perfect for your naturally warm skin. For instant radiance, brush over the apples of your cheeks and finish with a clear gloss on your lips, that’s all you need to look healthy and polished. Try Bourjois Blush in Lune D’Or.
For black skin tones
Brighter pinks will look dramatic, so play up lips with a creamy colour such as No 7 Moisture Drench Lipstick in Pink Crush. Pat on to your lips with your finger for a softer, more modern finish.
Insider trick of the trade
Avoid wearing pink around eyes as it can make you look like you haven’t slept, instead keep pink to lips and cheeks for a fresher, youthful look.
