Barefaced beauty is back in a big way this season. Boots.com check out the looks which will have you looking refreshingly gorgeous this spring…

If au natural is your thing, then this spring’s love affair with nudes will put you top of the beauty class. Models at Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, Chloe and Dolce & Gabbana did barefaced chic in shades of cappuccino, peach, apricot and biscuit.

Becoming a ‘nudie’ requires one key accessory; flawless looking skin. ‘The trick to this look is to get your foundation right, it should look like a second skin, luminous and flawless,’ says Jamie Coombes, Dior’s make-up artist. ‘Once you’ve mastered your complexion the rest is easy.’

‘Spend time choosing the right shade of foundation, remember your skin tone changes from season to season, so what was right for you in winter might not be right for you now,’ advises Jamie.

Keep the rest of the face to an absolute minimum with a simple liner and nearly nude tones on eyes and lips.

We recommend

Dior Nude Natural Glow Hydrating Make-up For pale skin tones
Defusing redness will ensure your complexion is even. Try Lancôme Flash Retouche Highlighter, dabbed around nose and chin and under eyes. Go for a creamy lip gloss with a pink or peach hint for warmth, such as Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick in Vintage Pink.

For olive/Asian skin tones
Give your skin a flawless, natural glow with a light foundation that won’t clog oily complexions. Try Dior Nude Natural Glow Hydrating Make-up. A Sixties-style beige lip shade, such as Ruby & Millie Lip Gloss in Beige is instantly chic. Slick on Benefit BADgal Eye Liner Waterproof in Black and lashings of mascara to channel your inner Brigitte Bardot.

No7 Stay Perfect Eye Shadow Palette For black skin tones
For a barely-there look that’s still polished, go for caramel and chocolate tones, which blend with your complexion. Make the most of eyes with No7 Stay Perfect Eye Shadow Palette in Good Earth, a mix of browns and taupes. Finish with a chocolate mascara such as Estée Lauder Turbo Lash in Brown, and nearly-nude lips such as MyFace Gigabite Lipstick Medium/Dark in Sexyback,

Insider trick of the trade
Foundation too dark? Don’t throw it away. It’s perfect for creating sculpted cheek bones for this barely-there look. Blend a tiny amount into the hollow area just under your cheekbones, then dust over with your usual blusher, your face will look instantly slimmer.
